If you mean how Thawne gets stuck in the past and becomes Wells, they did show it on Flash 1x17 "Tricksters" via flashbacks. Now if you mean more flashbacks after he starts his 15-year long plan, then yeah I'd be interested. Though they probably showed enough throughout season 1 flashbacks with Wade Elling and Grodd, and of course the repeated use of the night particle accelerator exploded.
As far as a Thawne episode, I'd be up for it, Legion of Doom is one of my favorite overall Arrowverse episodes, and Lex had at least 2 episodes all about him, so why hasn't Thawne had the same? I get that Thawne was featured in Flash season 1, but as Wells and not the Reverse-Flash we know and love/hate.
Bottom line: sign me up, I'll watch it.
But i want to see how thawne learned the flashs identity
Thawne discovered Barry's identity before he got stuck in the past. But yes, that part we haven't seen yet. Though not sure if the old time remnant story will happen now that the post-season 1 Thawne keeps showing up.
I would like to see his backstory
I personally would not like to see his origins because I like that it's more mysterious. I feel like whatever they did would be underwhelming in some way.
However I agree with @Nathan Nunez in that I really want to see more of him in the fifteen years before S1. I think it would be so interesting to see him struggling with the issues that semi-permanently stealing someone else's body and identity would create, both in having get used to pretending to be Wells (interacting with Tina for example) and in losing aspects of his original personality and appearance. I think this facet of Thawne as a character has a lot of potential, and Tom Cavanagh would no doubt take the idea and and knock it out of the park (the closest thing I can think of is when HR gets angry at himself for giving away Iris's location at the end of 3x22), but sadly they have not really done anything of this sort yet.
I am kinda getting tired of thawne, they give him so much attention. I want one episode about Zoom, we haven't seen him in years.
But since Zoom is dead and we already know all his back story, I would like an episode about Reverse Flash's origins, explaining his childhood, how he got his powers, how he found out about Barry, etc.
But just that. I don't want to know about those 15 years after he stole Wells' body, that story is getting old.
Well the problem here is comic accuracy. While Zoom is an enemy of the Flash, Reverse-Flash is the enemy. It's like taking Lex away from the Supers or Joker from the Batfamily, Thawne has to be around. Though to be fair, Zoom was actually supposed to have been Wally's but obviously with the show...that changed.
Another thing, past episodes kinda gave us Thawne's backstory. He wanted to be the Flash, but finds out through time travel that he is his greatest enemy. Kinda nothing new, unless they decide to make things interesting in some way.
That said, as much as I would be interested in seeing Wells/Thawne, it's not what I want to see most. I like Tom Cavanagh but I want Matt Letscher back. Unless if they do intend to retcon the Crisis newspaper in that there is a Crisis that is "strictly Barry and Thawne" in which they have to bring Letscher back. Before I get hate, not a crossover per say but something like we see in Flash 1x22 "Rogue Air" where it only happens in one episode...but this time in 2024 as a potential series finale.
As long as this is their endgame, I kinda don't care what they do for the most part.
@Carolmartins2007 I have to disagree on your last point: while you're right that they give him so much attention, they've mostly been adding to his post-season 1 personal timeline, with every version of him starting with Legiobard having his Wells memories, they haven't given much screen time at all to between the Tricksters flashbacks and Season 1.
I think people may tend to not like Tom Cavanagh as much in the role of Thawne these days because the show is overusing him, especially a post-season 1 version of him who is less complex than his season 1 self.
@Wikifan988 Yeah but it would be less boring to watch his back story and know how Thawne became the Reverse Flash. In my opinion.
I think they would have to really understand his character and the motivations behind his season 1 and 2 self to do his origin well but I feel like they've forgotten that based on how they've been characterizing him in appearances such as Crisis on Earth-X and Death of the Speed Force as a villain who just hates the Flash a lot and that's it.
(At least this is my opinion.)
What do you think?
