unnecessary comments - this could be an annoying thing within the Arrowverse. The characters are talking about thing and there’s just a character on the side saying things that are completely unrelated. Like when Chester was like “Does anyone else taste pennies? Cuz it tastes like 78 cents in my mouth” that didn’t contribute to Barry’s conversation with the speed force. that’s only one example out of hundreds.
Not a single person can have a stable relationship. I know some do but I need to rant. I understand that this can often be due to the fact that these shows last seasons and seasons last over a few years so the actors playing them might not stay until the shows end but it’s based off comics and the one thing I love about comic book love interest is that generally the main character has one love interest that they fall for and stick too. My biggest example of how this doesn’t happen is Kara from supergirl, all of her love interest stories are crap. So poorly written it’s laughable. But I do like the felicity storyline in arrow and how they took time apart to grow and make mistakes. I’m not finished with arrow but I could live with their storyline. And Barry and iris. It just seems like a lot of the other characters couldn’t find a good love interest and then reasons for breaking up would stay consistent over time. Like why couldn’t Lance stay with Felicitys mom? Why can’t Winn not have an evil girlfriend? Why play the love story out between Kara and James if the second things go right for them they decide to be friends? That one was such an odd storyline. Why couldn’t Wally stay with Jesse? Like there are so many where they could’ve just stayed together. I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t agree with me but I feel like the storylines didn’t need all of these breakups.
To be fair, many characters are guilty of "unnecessary comments" though I agree that Chester is a good example of when NOT to do it. Drama is inevitable, given that's to be expected from serialized "soap operas" which isn't just on the Arrowverse or TheCW, though most CW viewers are teenagers who eat this stuff up. Same with cringe (my poll vote above) and bad writing/"dumb choices", though I'm sure it depends on one's preference in entertainment. But hey, what do I know?
As far as my issue, I gotta say I feel the Arrowverse is not good now as it once was. In my opinion, the last really good year of Arrowverse seasons was in 2016-2017. Arrow and Flash started it all, and they did it while honoring the comics that they're based on. I enjoyed Supergirl and Legends at first, but they haven't been the same since both shows each had their season 2 (separately) on the air. All the shows now? Either the stories play out ridiculous, or they are political...which is normal, but you can only bash on Trump or bring up "anti-gun" stories so many times to a point where it's annoying. Would like the shows to lean away from liberal views just a tad, or at least not have diversity for the sake of diversity. We get it, there are messages to deliver, but it's not something that needs to take priority over entertainment. I know, I'm one viewer out of millions, give or take. Just had to say how I feel, out of nostalgia. And if I'm the only one thinking it, then so be it. All that said, I'm hoping all shows get on the same page and focus solely about the DC universe we know and love.
I'm fine with drama, I was felt like comics were like paper soaps.
