"Abra Kadabra" is the eighteenth episode of the third season of The Flash, and the sixty-fourth episode overall. It aired on March 28, 2017.
Synopsis
The Flash battles Abra Kadabra, a villain from Earth-19, who makes him a tempting offer – release him and Abra Kadabra will reveal Savitar’s true identity. Desperate to save Iris, Barry considers taking the deal but Gypsy breaches in to capture the villain for her own reasons and during the melee, Abra Kadabra manages to escape. Barry is furious that Gypsy interfered but Gypsy refuses to back down, forcing Cisco to take sides. Meanwhile, Julian is still a bit cold towards Caitlin.[1]
Trivia
- Cecille offers Hamilton tickets to Joe, Barry, and Iris.
- Julian refers to his injury as "merely a flesh wound", noting it as something that the "Monty Python boys would say". This is a reference to a scene in the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail in which the Black Knight has all of his limbs cut off by King Arthur, claiming it to be "merely a flesh wound".
- Cisco mentions Kadabra's plan to be to "Marty McFly himself back to the future", referencing the lead character from the Back to the Future franchise.
- This episode marks the first mention of DeVoe, who would become the main antagonist in the following season.
- While trying to stop Abra Kadabra from going through the wormhole to return to the future, Cisco shouts "You shall not pass!", a reference to Gandalf's battle against Durin's Bane in Moria in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
