Albert "Al" Rothstein (died October 6, 2015) was a welder at a nuclear power plant.
Biography[]
Al was on his honeymoon in Hawaii on December 11, 2013, the day that the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator exploded.[1]
Almost two years later on October 6, 2015, his Earth-2 counterpart "Atom-Smasher" killed him to fool Zoom who sent "Atom Smasher" to Earth-1 to kill The Flash in exchange for freedom. Rothstein’s body was later found by a co-worker.[1]
Al’s death was later avenged when the Flash killed Atom Smasher.

Behind the scenes[]
- In the DC comics, Al Rothstein is a hero known as Atom-Smasher, hence the overt reference to their resemblance in his appearance. The comic book character was previously name-dropped, but the two characters either have no connection or this was a continuity error made by the writers.
- During the events of "Power Outage", Al Rothstein was on the list of people Harrison Wells said died the night of the Particle Accelerator, which directly contradicts what was said above.
