"The multiverse has a way of aligning fates...It's written in the stars and in this book, or I wouldn't know that on this Earth, Clark Kent is Superman. Where I come from, that would be ridiculous. He can't see past his glasses."

This article is about the object set in the DC Extended universe. This article only contains information relevant to the Arrowverse. For information regarding that universe, please see Anti-Life Equation.

The anti-life equation is a techno-organic poison that can afflict technological entities such as Coluans and Jarhanpurians.

Overview[]

When technological entities, such as Coluans, are afflicted by the anti-life equation, their bodily form will glitch in and out before dying.[1]

History[]

When an eyepatched Brainiac 5 tried to prevent his doppelgänger from opening his Earth that he himself bottled from the antimatter wave during the Anti-Monitor Crisis, the latter killed his eyepatched doppelgänger with the anti-life equation, but not before warning his other doppelgängers about the bottle.[1]

The equation almost killed the bottled Earth's owner, before being saved by another doppelgänger of his.[1]

It was later on used during the Superfriends' final battle against Leviathan on the technopath alien Gamemnae in order to kill her for good.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

  • In the comics, the Anti-Life Equation is a mathematical formula that is said to have the ability to dominate the will of any sentient race or being. Many beings have sought this formula, with Darkseid being the most notable.
    • The formula is "loneliness + alienation + fear + despair + self-worth ÷ mockery ÷ condemnation ÷ misunderstanding x guilt x shame x failure x judgement n=y where y=hope and n=folly, love=lies, life=death, self=dark side".
