"Then you know that it was."

Trivia[]
- This was the only crossover:
- Where all parts of the crossover air as episodes of one television series (The Flash) rather than the parts airing as episodes of multiple series.
- To primarily focus on one hero (Barry Allen/The Flash) instead of multiple heroes.
- For this reason, Eric Wallace does not consider this event a crossover.[2]
- To not include Arrow.
- However, Mia Queen/Green Arrow appeared in "Armageddon, Part 5".
- Since Heroes Join Forces to not include Supergirl and to not feature Melissa Benoist (Kara Danvers) in any capacity.
- Eric Wallace wanted Benoist to appear in the crossover, but she was busy filming the final episodes of Supergirl[2]
- However, Alex Danvers/Sentinel appeared in the crossover.
- To not feature Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen), David Ramsey (John Diggle), and Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon) in any capacity.
- However, Oliver Queen is heavily mentioned (since his death in Crisis on Infinite Earths), especially in "Armageddon, Part 3", when Jefferson Pierce convinces Barry to continuing being the Flash by invoking Oliver's name which triggers Barry's desire not to give up.
- The storyline of Armageddon has some similarities to previous crossovers:
- Similarly to Invasion!, an alien is going after Barry out of fear of a bad consequence from his time traveling powers. The Dominators were afraid of Barry because of his impulsive creation of Flashpoint, while Despero was afraid that Barry would cause Armageddon. Both crossovers are related to time travel (Cisco and Felicity's travel with the Waverider to the past in Invasion! and Barry's time travel to Reverse-Flashpoint in 2031 for Armageddon).
- Similarly to Crisis on Earth-X Eobard Thawne acts as a major antagonist. In the latter, Eobard was collaborating with the Nazis from Earth-X out of spite while in Armageddon he was behind the time changes where he gaslit Barry and created the Reverse-Flashpoint timeline. There is also a wedding between Iris and a speedster that is attended by multiple heroes and is interrupted by a confrontation.
- Similarly to Elseworlds, two characters swap identities and Iris ultimately trusts Barry. The difference is that in Elseworlds Oliver and Barry were assumed to have each other's name and the changes were caused by John Deegan's use of the Book of Destiny, while in Armageddon the identity was between Thawne being the Flash and Barry being the Reverse-Flash and the changes were caused by Thawne's use of time travel and the Negative Still Force. In both crossovers Barry is perceived to be a villain at some point (Barry is one of the Trigger Twins in Elseworlds and he is the Reverse-Flash in Armageddon) and Barry has to run around the world afterwards with a serious personal risk (Barry ran to slow the Earth's rotation and hence delay Deegan's attempts to rewrite reality again in Elseworlds, while he ran in Armageddon to undo Eobard Thawne's changes to the timeline).
Behind the scenes[]
- This crossover was inspired by:
- A specific scene in Crisis on Earth-X.[2][3]
- The film Cloverfield.[2][3]
- The intimacy of Flash vs. Arrow.[3]
- Tyler Hoechlin (Clark Kent) was approached about appearing in the crossover, but he was unable to do so due to scheduling conflicts and COVID-19 restrictions.[2]
