"Babel Protocols initiated."
"What's 'Babel Protocols'? I thought that was just some defense stuff that you added to Barry's suit."
"That was version 1. Version 2.0 puts up a force field around S.T.A.R. Labs. Nothing gets in, nothing goes out. Not even our comms. I built them just in case the Flash ever went dark.
"
Cisco Ramon and Caitlin Snow[src]

The Babel Protocols is a database program created by Cisco Ramon Initially built as a defense system for Barry Allen/The Flash in his suit, it also served as a defense system for when the Flash went rogue.

History[]

"The Babel Protocols aren't just force fields and tech. It's us."
Cisco Ramon[src]

After successfully bringing Barry Allen back from the Speed Force, Cisco Ramon built a new Flash suit within which "Babel Protocols" were added in.[1] The first version was added as defense stuff for Barry's activities as the Flash while the Version 2.0 puts up a force field to defend Team Flash around S.T.A.R. Labs where nothing gets in or out, not even their comms. The latter built just in case the Flash ever went dark, which was used when Barry fell under Bloodwork's influence.[2]

When the Flash was under the Artificial Speed Force, Cisco told him the Babel Protocols aren't just force fields and tech, but it was their team.[3]

Before leaving Team Flash, Cisco gave Chester Runk a drive with conceptual designs, some of which were upgrades to the Babel Protocols.[4]
