"Now Batman, oh, there's a classic hero. Great voice, no shame. I mean, he built abdominals directly into his suit, right? Hoo! And he kept trophies from every single nut job he dumped at Arkham. Keeping them off the streets, my ass. He wanted to relish in the feeling of being powerful."
Roman Sionis[src]

The Batman trophies[1] are artifacts that Bruce Wayne has collected throughout his adventures as Batman from several criminals;who had terrorized Gotham City.

Bruce kept these artifacts in the Batcave's vault not only to remind himself of the reason why he became Batman, but also because most of them were too dangerous to be kept in evidence lock-up;by the Gotham City Police Department as they could potentially fall into the wrong hands.

History[]

Kate Kane (who had been brainwashed into believing that she was Circe Sionis) convinced the Bat Team to give her back the Batsuit and stole several Batman trophies that were stored in the Batcave for Roman Sionis.[2] During the final fight, Kate and Ryan fell into Gotham River along with the objects, that were found by other individuals who assumed the criminal identities of their former owners.[3]

List of Bat trophies[]

  • Poison Ivy's vine: A cutting of a fast-growing vine propagated by Poison Ivy. This was the prize most sought after by Safiyah Sohail when she arranged for the theft of the trophy collection from Batman's secret stash - she intended to harness and employ its accelerated growth properties in the name of imparting the same to the single surviving Desert Rose plant she acquired from Ryan Wilder so that Coryana may bloom with Desert Rose bushes once again and perhaps more wildly than ever before.[2] Ryan and Luke would later succeed in the retrieval of a vine sample from a crack farm. But it turned out not to be the real one, after Renee Montoya confirms it.[4] According to and confirmed by Renee, these vines do not die unless they have infected someone else, granting that individual the same plant-based powers and characteristics that Pamela Isley possesses as Poison Ivy.[5]
  • Joker's acid flower: The infamous acid-squirting flower that the psychotic Joker wore on his chest lapel, it comes complete with a rubber squeeze-pump and a long, thin tube. During her confrontation with Black Mask, Alice managed to steal this item and used it to corrode Roman’s face, immediately slapping his skull-faced mask back on, permanently fusing the mask onto the villain to keep him from living a dual life by pretending to act as Gotham's savior.[3]
  • Joker's joy buzzer: The infamous modified joy buzzer that belonged to the Joker, who used it to electrocute his victims. In reality it is a high-voltage electric device that can send dangerous, electrical charges into whoever it touches. This device was used by the Joker, who placed it on a young Marquis Jet's head and sent an electrical charge through his brain, causing serious damage which caused Marquis to develop a dangerously sociopathic personality.[5] After all the other trophies aside from Poison Ivy's vine had been discovered, Renee Montoya continuously reminded the Bat team that the buzzer was still at large in order to convince them to find it and Pamela faster. In truth, however, Montoya had had the buzzer in her possession the entire time, manipulating the Bat Team and Alice so she could be reunited with Pamela.[6]
  • Bane's Venom pump: A wearable medical-slash-enhancement apparatus once owned by Bane. It features several intravenous and needle-ended tubes hooked to the main pump that both holds and administers a supply of Venom into the wearer's bloodstream, dramatically triggering steroid-like effects upon the recipient. Roman callously equipped this device on Russell Tavaroff.[2][3]
  • Mad Hatter's hat: A classic-style hat that once belonged to the original Mad Hatter, Jervis Tetch. It holds within it Tetch's mind-controlling technology that enables the wearer to bend the wills of others in his/her presence.[4] It was briefly used by Liam Crandle, who became the second Mad Hatter.
  • Clayface's mud: A preserved sample of the very earthen and extremely malleable material that comprised the protean being of Clayface.
  • Penguin's umbrella: The Penguin’s signature umbrella, it has a swirling pattern that can be used to put someone into a hypnotic trance. The Bat team sent an image of the umbrella through digital media so that Gotham citizen’s would take shelter from Marquis Jet’s acid bomb.
  • Killer Croc's tooth: The tooth carries a highly dangerous infection that Waylon Jones was afflicted with; causing a crocodile-like mutation that gives the victim enhanced strength, growth, durability, and even a paralytic agent in their very saliva. On a fishing trip with his father, a teenager named Steven discovered the tooth, and was accidentally affected by this same ailment after accidentally cutting his hand on it.[7]
  • Mr. Freeze's liquid nitrogen: A specially designed canister containing an unknown amount of Victor Fries' unique liquid nitrogen serum formula was stored. The amount contained in the canister was implied to be enough to put an individual through cryostasis, with the right type of equipment. It was also capable of fully freezing anything within it's radius to an incredible degree, as Luke Fox used it to fully freeze a drivable path onto a destroyed bridge. The formula itself is highly valuable on the black market and in Gotham's underworld as many wanted to buy and reverse engineer their own versions of the serum to use for several purposes. The Black Glove Society in particular wanted the serum in an attempt to reverse engineer a version that would make them ageless. Jada Jet hired and tasked Black Glove with testing and creating a version that would successfully put an individual's body in suspended animation without any adverse effects on that individual's body and cells, so that she could use it on her son, Marquis Jet.[8]
  • Catwoman's whip: A customized bullwhip belonging to Catwoman that was her signature weapon for many years. It was revealed by Luke Fox that Catwoman and Batman had a romantic relationship, and that this relationship allowed her to steal some of his nanotechnology and weave it into her whip, making it indestructible.
  • King Shark's tooth: A tooth from the meta-human criminal Shay Lamden. Although mainly an enemy of the Flash, Lamden apparently came into conflict with Batman at least once and the latter acquired a tooth from the half-human half-shark.[9]
  • Scarecrow's fear toxin: A gas created by Scarecrow that makes other individuals hallucinate their worst fears.[9]
  • Condiment King's Condiment gun: A specialised weapon used by the condiment king.[9]
  • Mask of Phantasm: A mask worn by the Phantasm.[9]

Trivia[]

  • Some of the artifacts are hinted to be biologically hazardous given that they were kept in customized and tightly-sealed jars and the Batcave's vault they were stored in had Geiger counters and biohazard warning signs as noticed by Mary.
  • Roman Sionis (arrogantly and delusively) believes that; Bruce Wayne (under the persona of Batman) kept these artifacts as a way to make him feel powerful about himself but in truth, Bruce actually kept these artifacts in the Batcave's vault not only to remind himself of the reason why he became Batman in the first place, but also because most of them were too dangerous to be kept in evidence lock-up by the Gotham City Police Department; such as Bane's venom, the Joker's acid flower, the Mad Hatter's hat, Poison Ivy's vine, Mr. Freeze's liquid nitrogen, Killer Croc's tooth, etc.
  • Penguin's umbrella resembles the "splitting headache" umbrella used; by the version from Batman Returns on Earth-89.

Behind the scenes[]

  • The Clayface's mud could likely turn someone into a new Clayface if ingested; much like Basil Karlo in The Batman, where he gained powers from drinking the essence of the first Clayface. Partially proven true in the EARTH-PRIME when an unfortunate teen fell into the mud and was absorbed, becoming the next Clayface.
