Batwoman is a television series based on the DC Comics character with the same name starring Ruby Rose in Season 1 and Javicia Leslie since Season 2. It is developed by Greg Berlanti, and produced by Caroline Dries. A pilot was ordered on January 3, 2019 at The CW. On May 7, 2019, it was picked up to series on the network. It premiered on October 6, 2019. On October 25, 2019, it was originally revealed to have been picked up for a full season consisting of 22 episodes.[1] However, the number of episodes for Season 1 was reduced to 20 due to production shutting down in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.[2]

The CW renewed Batwoman for a second season on January 7, 2020,[3] and on October 29, 2020, it was announced to premiere on January 17, 2021.[4] On February 3, 2021, Batwoman was renewed for a third season by The CW which premiered on October 13, 2021.[5] On April 29, 2022, Batwoman was cancelled by The CW.[6]
