"Blood Debts" is the tenth and midseason premiere episode of the fourth season of Arrow, and the seventy-ninth episode overall. It aired on January 20, 2016.

Synopsis

Oliver must deal with the devastating consequences of Darhk's last attack. Seeking revenge, Oliver goes on a brutal manhunt looking for Dahrk.[src]

Plot

In flashback, Oliver is brought to the leader along with Taiana and he tells Conklin that he could do as he pleased to Oliver. Oliver is then whipped. After being lashed, Oliver's mystical tattoo lit up, causing the leader to stop Conklin. Oliver then grabs the guys gun and aims it at himself. Oliver then asks for Taiana's safety in exchange for him helping the man. Conklin however spent the whole time telling him it was a bad idea. Oliver and Taiana are then taken to prison. Conklin locks Taiana and Oliver in a cell.

Later, Lurel learns that her dad is seeing Donna Smoak.

Machin heads to Damian's home and holds Damian's wife and daughter hostage. The Green Arrow, Speedy, Dig, and Canary show up to stop him from killing the hostages. Canary and Dig untie them as Speedy and Green Arrow battle Machin. They split up and Oliver spots Damian from a distance. Instead of going after Machin, Oliver goes after Damian whilst Speedy ties up Machin. Damian uses magic to injure the Green Arrow and then asked after his family. Damian tells him that he could enjoy his time with his family, as a result of the Green Arrow saving his family. Speedy is knocked out by Machin. Afterwards in the arrow cave, they discuss what happened. Thea calls her boyfriend back to her and Laurel's place where they have red wine and kiss.

In a flashforward, Oliver and Barry talk at the grave before getting into a limo with Felicity. She tells him that he has to kill the killer.

Production

Preparation ran from October 20 until October 30, 2015. Shooting ran from November 2 until November 10, 2015.[1]

Trivia

Goofs

  • Lonnie Machin's teeth are bloody when he is first tied up. However, when Speedy comes to talk to him alone, his teeth are no longer bloody.
  • When Oliver first enters Felicity's hospital room, she is facing her left and there are red flowers on the table to her right. Later on when Oliver and Laurel are talking in front of a large window in the room, Felicity is facing towards them, towards her left with the red flowers behind her right shoulder and the door to the room clearly visible on her right side, opposite how Oliver originally entered.
  • After her surgery, Felicity is seen in a hospital bed with all the side rails down. No patient, especially one paralyzed from the waist down, is left in bed without at least the top side rails up to prevent the patient from accidentally rolling out of the bed.
