Bloodlust is most commonly shown in a person when affected by the Khushu Idol or the Lazarus Pit. The known people who were affected by it were Ra's al Ghul, Sara Lance, Thea Queen, Taiana Venediktov, and many others.

History[]

Baron Reiter and Damien Darhk had control of their bloodlust from the Khushu Idol because Reiter had magical tattoos on his forearm and Damien sacrificed his own blood often to keep it in control. There are three known ways to permanently be rid of a bloodlust obtained from the Lazarus Pit: drinking Lotus, a combination of herbs and meditation, and killing your killer/attempted killer (if they themselves are not already dead). It is unknown what, if anything, can cure the effects of the Khushu Idol, though it's plausible to assume that if the user's Idol is destroyed and their magical connection is lost, the bloodlust will also be gone.

Those who had no form of control over their bloodlust were more susceptible into mindlessly and aggressively killing their victims; killing would temporarily sate it, but would return within a month. If a user of dark magic attempted to drain the life force of someone with a bloodlust from the Lazarus Pit, their own life force would instead be drained and the bloodlust would be temporarily sated; this effectively made anyone with a bloodlust obtained this way immune to this form of attack. However, this is no longer the case if they are later cured of it.

If the bloodlust is not sated for long enough, it will instead feed on their own life force. In the case of Thea Queen, the scar from when Ra's al Ghul left her near death reopened and she went into a coma. There are also certain circumstances where the Lotus won't cure a victim; Roy Harper theorised that when the Lotus didn't work on him, this was because of his past history with Mirakuru.
