Now that the gigantic Invasion! crossover has finally aired, it's time again that we must discuss whether it's worth combining with the Supergirl Wiki. As it stands, below are a list of encouraging reasons as to why we should merge:
- Supergirl's Earth is now officially designated as Earth Thirty-Eight. As with the other Earths (eg. Earth Two, Earth Three), Earth Thirty-Eight (and thus, Supergirl) should be included on the wiki.
- Relating to point 1, it could be likened to the DC Database, how they include multiple Earths, despite most of their titles just occurring on the single one.
- All of the information included on the one wiki, rather than spaced out between two wikis (eg. the Kara Danvers page). The wikis gain from a combined, bigger community with not only more visitors but more editors. Additionally, there will be no complications as to what goes on what wiki (as it'll all be on the one wiki).
To make it clear, TimeShade and I are currently the only admins on Supergirl Wiki, but if we do merge then those that have other user rights on Supergirl Wiki will be offered to have them transferred to here, as is only fair. Also, should a merge occur, admins and content moderators will be the ones to do it, as we'll be importing the pages to ensure the integrity of past editors - that is, if you ever made an edit to a Supergirl Wiki article, it'll be carried over to here. I can not stress this enough, as it just gets messy when people try to copy-paste complete pages over as it ruin all of the hard work that others have done and makes it seem as if they've done the entire one edit themselves.
Oh, and naturally, we'll change the wiki around a bit to incorporate it. I was thinking of adding such things as a "Universe" parameter to a few of the infoboxes, such as locations and characters, allowing for greater differentiation between pages between the multiple Earths. This would be done via bot-work, so as to not flood the RecentChanges feed.
So get discussing! We're keen to see how all of you feel about it, and if you have any good points to bring up.
