"If the Children of Liberty are such a problem, why hasn't Guardian renounced them? In fact, rumor is he's meeting with them right now, which seems to indicate that James Olsen understands that these people have something of value to say."
"There is a very clear difference between having something to say and the hate speech in these leaflets. This manifesto will only incite violence and fear, and as Americans we are better than that. On Thanksgiving, tomorrow is Thanksgiving, it is a day for family, for community. It is about welcoming different cultures and celebrating a gratitude for life together. That is what liberty is about."
Ben Lockwood and Kara Danvers's debate

"Call to Action" is the sixth episode of the fourth season of Supergirl, and the seventy-first episode overall. It aired on November 18, 2018.

Synopsis

Everyone gathers for Thanksgiving but Kara is feeling down after her televised debate with Ben Lockwood about the anti-alien sentiment coursing through National City. Meanwhile, James and Lena argue about the best way to handle the Children of Liberty.[1]

Trivia

  • After Colonel Haley reprimands Kara and Alex, the latter describes her as acting "Dolores Umbridge-y" at the D.E.O. and goes on to say that if it continues, she will go "full Weasley twin" on her. This is a reference to Dolores Umbridge, and Fred and George Weasley, characters in the Harry Potter franchise. In fifth film in the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Fred and George prank Umbridge during her tyranny at their school.
    • When a dragon-like creature begins rampaging through the city, Alex remarks "that's what I get for making a Harry Potter reference".
  • Manchester greets J'onn as "my favorite Martian", referencing the TV series of the same name.
  • On his televised debate against Kara, Ben tries to justify his stance against aliens by citing how on Thanksgiving, the Native Americans' fear of European settlers was justified when they were slaughtered. However, this actually makes him a hypocrite since as a white Caucasian man, Ben is likely descended from those very settlers.
