Cats are a type of small mammalian animals notable for their distinct 'meow' sound. They are known to exist on the Earth of Earth-Prime,[1], Earth-TUD25's Inverse World,[2] as well as the original multiverse's Earth-1,[3] Earth-38[4] and Earth-203.
History[]
Original multiverse[]
Earth-1[]
After John Constantine changed his past to save Desmond, a ripple of changes were sent through the timeline, including a change which resulted in Zari Tomaz being turned into a cat.[3] Zari, now being looked after by Charlie, was stuck as a cat for some time, until the latter was able to locate Constantine in the new timeline. Constantine was able to return Zari to her human form, however, when Constantine and Charlie planned to make further changes to the timeline, Zari opposed doing this, and so was returned to cat form by Constantine. As a result of further changes to the timeline, Zari was no longer stuck as a cat, but instead was turned into a puppet, along with a number of her Legends teammates.[5]
Earth-38[]
Shortly after arriving on Earth, Kara Danvers found a stray cat on the street near the Danvers house. She took the cat in as a pet, and after an undisclosed encounter, she named the cat Streaky.[4] Streaky helped Kara to adjust to life on Earth, and also provided her with a way to practice controlling her strength, so that she wouldn't accidentally hurt her new pet.[4]
New multiverse[]
Earth-Prime[]
At some point, Lewis Carroll wrote the novel Alice in Wonderland. In the book, he included a character named Cheshire Cat.
In January 2004, Jonathan Cartwright found a stray kitten near his house, and decided to give the kitten to Beth Kane for her fourteenth birthday. The kitten, now named Chessy after the Alice in Wonderland character Cheshire Cat, provided Beth some solace despite her imprisonment by August Cartwright, Jonathan's father. Sometime not long after this, August found Chessy hidden in Beth's room, and as punishment killed the kitten in front of both her and Jonathan.[1]
After having escaped the Phantom Zone and regained her powers, Nyxlygsptlnz used her powers as a Fifth Dimensional Imp to summon an extremely oversized cat, which was capable of fighting multiple of the Superfriends simultaneously. The cat was eventually contained by Brainy, who used Coluan bottling technology to shrink and trap the cat.[6]
