Central City is a city located in the United States of Earth-27.

A particle accelerator was built by S.T.A.R. Labs, though not long after it being turned on, the machine exploded, causing a shockwave of energy to spread throughout the city. This resulted in the creation of hyperhumans, leading Eddie Thawne to become the villainous speedster "Johnny Quick".

History

In 2014, the particle accelerator was launched by S.T.A.R. Labs. The subsequent explosion of energy caused the deaths of many individuals, also creating "hyperhumans" - people granted special powers from the resulting dark matter. Eddie Thawne was one such hyperhuman, becoming a speedster called "Johnny Quick". Eddie took over the United States with the Crime Syndicate of America, but compared to the others, his territory only consisted of Central City.

Over the next two years, Eddie created his own private army, the Quickling, which he used to establish control over Central City after killing 10% of the population. He also converted the former S.T.A.R. Labs building into his own base of operations and renamed it "Speed Central". At some point, Eddie captured a hyperhuman named Clyde Mardon, who could control weather. Mardon was contained in the "Weather Chamber" so that Eddie could manipulate the city's weather at his will.[1]

The following took place in an alternate timeline where Flashpoint never happened.

In 2017, Barry Allen from Earth-1 accidentally landed in Central City while traveling to Earth-2. After seeing how horrible Earth-27 was, he decided to help the Rogues defeat Eddie, freeing the city from his tyranny. Before returning to his Earth, Barry gave the speed formula to James Jesse so that the people of Central City could stand up against the Crime Syndicate.[1]

In 2018, Earth-27 was invaded by the Anti-Matter Man, resulting in the atmosphere being poisoned which left this Earth and all its cities inhabitable.[2]
