During his brief time to visit the year 3000, Charles based his research work in this laboratory in the city of Detroit; Michigan, in the United States (Earth-1).[1]

The JSA member Charles took a piece of the Spear of Destiny and was sent to the year 3000 in the city of Detroit; Michigan, where he hid it inside himself and began posing as a researcher of cybernetic implants. Using future technology, he was also able to cure his blindness. Charles was soon found by Rip Hunter, who had been brainwashed by the Legion of Doom. Rip asked for Charles' shard of the Spear, but the latter refused to give it to him, sensing something wasn't right. Rip then took the shard by force, cutting it out of Charles and fatally wounding him with his laser pistol. With his dying breath, Charles painted the word "RIP" on the floor with his blood to reveal the identity of his killer.[2]
