Cisalpine Gaul was a Roman province in 49 BC located in Gaul.

History

At some point prior to 49 BC, the Gallic Wars occurred and eventually, Julius Caesar conquered the region of Gaul, which included Cisalpine Gaul.

In 49 BC, Caesar set up a camp in Cisalpine Gaul to prepare for his march on the Rubicon. After Mick Rory found an anachronistic Julius Caesar in Aruba, 2017, the Legends returned him to Cisalpine Gaul, 49 BC. Behind the scenes

  • In the real world, Cisalpine Gaul was the part of Italy inhabited by Celts (Gauls) during the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. It was considered part of Gaul, precisely that part of Gaul on the "hither side of the Alps" (from the perspective of the Romans), as opposed to Transalpine Gaul ("on the far side of the Alps").
