The Coil accelerator is a special gun that was created by Hamilton Dynamics and commissioned by the late Catherine Hamilton. Its capabilities are similar to that of the Rail gun's.
History[]
Sometime after Batman's emergence, Catherine Hamilton commissioned Hamilton Dynamics to develop a weapon that could penetrate the Batsuit, possibly if Batman became a threat, although it was very likely that she only had this weapon created in case he ever became a threat by exposing her criminal activities to the public. However, the project was put on hold after the he mysteriously disappeared.[1]
When Batwoman arrived in Gotham City, Catherine had the coil accelerator project reinstated.
In early 2019, Beth Kane kidnapped Dean Deveraux to create a mask just like his face to allow Jonathan Cartwright to disguise himself as Dean and infiltrate the lab to steal the gun. Jonathan successfully completed the mission and then killed Dean using the weapon.[2]

Later, Safiyah Sohail hired a criminal known as Rifle to retrieve the gun. He was also ordered by Beth to murder one of the scientists responsible for its creation, Derek Holcomb, before she handed the weapon to him. He explained that his boss would not hand over anything until they knew the gun worked, causing Beth to swiftly shoot it into a wall and walk away.

Later, after Rifle retrieved what Beth wanted, he delivered it to her and she finally handed over the gun, requesting he give Batwoman her best. Only without Rifle knowing, Alice had removed the power cell from the gun to make it fail. After the Rifle attempted to use the gun on "Batwoman" and it didn't work, he angrily returned to Beth's lair who only told him that it was a shame the only three individuals who could fix it were dead.[3]
