- "This life has cost me my marriage, gotten me stabbed, and people I love shot. Maybe you and Lyla and everyone else has what it takes to cope with it, but I can't keep lying to myself. Being Mr. Terrific... it's just not me anymore."
- —Curtis Holt to John Diggle[src]
Dr. Curtis Holt is the husband of Nick Anastas, a bronze medal Olympic athlete and a former employee of Palmer Technologies who worked alongside then-CEO Felicity Smoak in the Design Innovations department. After learning of Green Arrow's secret identity and the location of the Arrowcave, he joined Team Arrow as maintenance and tech support. While searching for Rene Ramirez to have him join the team, he took a beating from a group of street thugs. This inspired him to be trained and go out on the field, not wanting to feel helpless again. During his first time out, Curtis was jokingly called Mister Fair Play, after his favorite wrestler, Terry Sloane, and for his clean tactics. He was later directly named after Sloane's in-ring name: Mr. Terrific.
After discovering that Oliver, John Diggle, and Felicity had violated his privacy to figure out who betrayed the former to the F.B.I., Curtis left the team along with Rene and Dinah Drake to form their own group known as New Team Arrow. However, the trio eventually rejoined Team Arrow to help Oliver battle Ricardo Diaz. After Oliver was imprisoned, Curtis became the head of research and development at A.R.G.U.S.. Following Oliver's release from prison, Curtis became a deputized superhero working with the Star City Police Department. Curtis then got a job in Washington, D.C. and relocated there after transferring the full rights of Helix Dynamics to Felicity. He also retired from being Mr. Terrific, though occasionally helps Team Arrow as tech support if needed. Curtis later attended Oliver’s funeral to honor his friend.

Curtis Holt was born in Starling City and grew up with a brother, to whom he was extremely close. Curtis is openly homosexual since early teenhood, though his mother could barely stand his coming out. As a kid, Curtis was a huge fan of wrestling, especially the clean fighting style of Terry Sloane/Mr. Terrific, on whom he had a crush.
In adulthood, Curtis graduated from college with a PhD in biochemistry but later pursued an athletic career, becoming a bronze medal-winning Olympic decathlete. At some point in his life, Curtis started to suffer from Achilles tendinitis and needed it treated in order to qualify for the Olympics. For this, he met Paul, a physical therapist, and the two eventually began a romantic relationship. Sometime later, Curtis left his athletic career and was hired by Palmer Technologies.
In 2009, Curtis' beloved brother died of pancreatic cancer and he stated he would give anything to hear his voice again. In 2011, Curtis and Paul got married after the latter proposed by placing a ring in the reef while they were scuba diving for Curtis to find.
Due to the rising criminality in the rechristened Star City, Curtis and Paul came close to leaving the city in October 2015 until seeing Green Arrow's televised speech, which inspired them to stay.
Working for Palmer Technologies
Curtis created an algorithm to argue for company-wide pay rises, only for Mr. Dennis to intervene and ask him to use it to determine who to fire. After Felicity Smoak returned to Star City, he appeared at a board meeting to introduce himself and present her with the list of people. She called him back to her office sometime later, but he accidentally arrived late. She began to get angry at him, but he explained his original intentions. As they were talking, Karla Groves walked in and Felicity was forced to fire her, which she was able to infer straight away. Days later, Curtis ran into Felicity again in her office. He reminded her that the list of names was double-sided, and she realized that Curtis' was on the flip-side. He realized this and acknowledged that it was okay, as it was his own fault, not to mention it gave him time to holiday with his husband. However, eventually, Felicity re-hired him, along with the several people she had to fire, claiming that he had a revolutionary idea for the "technology of tomorrow", and would require all of the necessary manpower.
While working on his project, Felicity walked in and Curtis showed discomfort. After showing Felicity a few things that he has been working on, Felicity asks Curtis to scan a playing card, looking for anything out of the ordinary. Curtis notices some strange things about it and Felicity says she gambles, saying she thinks her opponent cheated. She leaves and Curtis begins tests on the card. After Curtis finishes the tests, Felicity visits him and he offers to look at her phone. After making comments about her name, he presents her with what he found out about the playing card. He reveals that it is not a playing card as it contains proteins and receptors. Curtis says that although they can track him, their ‘poker player’ can track them faster. As they attempt to leave, they get stopped by Jeremy, saying he will kill the one who says where they can find the Green Arrow. Felicity says to run while doing so, Curtis knocks down a shelf and requests to be told what's happening.
They go into a secret elevator into the Arrowcave and grab guns to ward him off. While Felicity is firing a rifle, Curtis tries to crawl away but Jeremy throws a card and knocks a light onto his head. Felicity then gets him and admits him to Starling General Hospital.
While Felicity continued to receive strange messages on her phone and showed them to Curtis thinking he was the one sending them. Curtis knew the code from somewhere but could not remember where from. He later tracked the source of the code to Ray Palmer's network and told Felicity that it had a message in it that she should listen to. She is skeptical at first but Curtis tells her about his brother and how he would do anything to hear something new from him.
Aiding Team Arrow
When Felicity finally listens to the message she noticed that there was something strange on it and ask Curtis to try and clean it up. He worked on it for hours but they finally found the rest of the message which revealed Ray Palmer was still alive and was in trouble. Later Curtis helped Felicity searching for Ray when he sends a new message, letting them know that he survived the explosion because his suit successfully shrank him down to a small size, however, is being held prisoner by Damien Darhk, who hope to get the technology from his suit.
Team Arrow, also including Curtis, was able to break into the facility where Ray was being held and, with a device created by Curtis, they successfully save and restore him.
A pair of weeks later Curtis attended Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak's holiday party with his husband Paul, the couple revealed them for how long they had been married and how Paul had proposed to Curtis.
After Felicity remained paralyzed due to an attack at the hands of H.I.V.E.'s men, Curtis began to work on a bio-stimulant implant that would help her walk again and, one night, finishing later he is attacked by Roy Harper, who was being extorted by The Calculator to commit crimes, however Green Arrow intervenes knocking Roy out with an arrow.
Some days later, Curtis and Paul attended Oliver and Felicity's engagement party, where Curtis gave Felicity the bio-stimulant implant he developed and Paul told her how much work Curtis had put into the gift.
When Brie Larvan launched an attack on Palmer Technologies trapping Thea, Felicity, and Donna inside, Curtis, being sick, was not at work and learned about it from the news so he managed to tracks down Oliver's hideout, discovering his secret in the process, and offered his help to the team. After Oliver was stung by one of Larvan's robotic bees, which slowing began to multiplying inside him, Curtis has Laurel uses the Canary Cry to cancel out the frequency that Larvan is using to control her bees and save Oliver's life.
After he recovered, the Green Arrow burst into Felicity's office, where Larvan has taken her hostages and fired an arrow at her bees which held a virus developed by Curtis. After her bees were shut down by the virus, Larvan began to shot with her gun and to threaten everybody in the room so Curtis reactivated the bees himself making them sting her multiple times and causing her to fall into a coma. Later, Oliver began to harshly criticize Curtis for his positive attitude towards vigilantism explaining that his life as a vigilante is what ruined his relationship with Felicity and took him away from happiness, however after Laurel reminded Oliver that Felicity left him because of the lies he told as himself, he apologizes to Curtis and encourages him to go back to his husband, which he did.
After H.I.V.E. leader Damien Darhk reactivated the reprogrammed Rubicon protocol with the help of Felicity's former boyfriend, Cooper Seldon; Curtis assisted Felicity and her father, the infamous Calculator, subverting all of Cooper's efforts to get control over Rubicon through computer hacking and managing to overload the man's whole computer. After that, Darhk decided to use Rubicon to destroy the whole Earth and showed up at Oliver's apartment, attacking Felicity, Donna, and Curtis to steal the laptop that keeps him locked out of the program and launch over 15,000 nuclear missiles.
Later, as H.I.V.E. rampaged through Star City while attempting to execute Operation Genesis, Felicity managed to convince Cooper to rebel against Darhk, which resulted in his death, so that she and Curtis redirected all the nukes into space at the same moment in which Green Arrow managed to kill Darhk.
Joining Team Arrow
Five months after the final showdown with H.I.V.E., as his old team members have gone their separate ways, Oliver is encouraged by Felicity to build a new team by recruiting the amateur vigilantes now working in Star City, like Rene Ramirez/Wild Dog; Curtis is appointed in searching for the latter to have him join the team, but while doing so he is ambushed and beaten by a group of street thugs. Shaken and humiliated, not wanting to feel that powerless anymore, Curtis is inspired to be a vigilante himself and go out on the field, so he asked Oliver to be trained as well.
Being accepted as a part of the new Team Arrow, Curtis showed up at a rendezvous building and began training alongside Rene Ramirez and Evelyn Sharp. The training turned out to be too rough for them and all the recruits except for Curtis quit working with Green Arrow due to his aggressive personality. However, after Oliver recruited Rory Regan/Ragman and revealed his identity to them all, all the recruits rejoined the team.
After training for another week the team was starting to become agitated from not participating in missions, however, Oliver told them to keep training until he feels ready to let them help in the field. Rene impulsively went out to find the drug dealer Derek Sampson on his own but his recklessness led to Sampson falling into a pool of chemicals used to create Stardust presumably killing him. Sampson however survived and became stronger, unable to feel pain. Green Arrow later brought Curtis (dubbed "Mister Fair Play"), Wild Dog, Ragman and Evelyn (codenamed "Artemis") to stop Sampson handling his men and sabotaging his equipment to replicate more of the chemicals that made him invincible, while Green Arrow confronted him. After succeeding, Oliver brought the team to the Arrowcave and they found the display cases for Oliver's suit and the former members of the first Team Arrow.
Becoming Mr. Terrific
As the new team was finally allowed to become known to the public Curtis was officially given the codename "Mr. Terrific". However, there was difficulty due to Rene's impulsive and recklessness tendencies and the team had trouble getting along, but they all knew they had to pull it together. After failing to stop the Green Arrow from breaking Spartan out of military prison, Curtis and his teammates returned to the Arrowcave where they got news of Tobias Church's latest criminal act. Felicity was reluctant to send them out against Church, though Rory's return to Team Arrow convinced her to allow the mission. The team engaged in battle but was forced to retreat when Curtis got a knife thrown in his back.
While recovering from the wound, Curtis stayed in the Arrowcave with Felicity and helped the team to track down Rene after he was captured by Church and his men. Later, he assisted the team in a plan to destroy Church's organization confronting them at the docks and defeating the masked assassin Scimitar with the help of Artemis and Christopher Chance.
Prometheus's killing spree that started with Church's death forced Oliver to reveal to his new team his past actions as 'The Hood', leaving them all shaken and angered, believing Oliver to be a killer at heart. Despite this Curtis did not leave Team Arrow, declaring he believes Oliver has changed in the last five years. Curtis was later seen accessing the backstage of a concert with his friends, thanks to Oliver's connections.
When the Spooky Crew, a gang of skull-masked criminals, began robbing banks, and a new trigger-happy Vigilante went after them, Team Arrow clashed with him posing as the gang and pretending to rob Star City Trust Bank to lure him in a trap. Vigilante saw through the ruse and knocked Artemis out, taking Mr. Terrific as a hostage. Allowing the rest of the team to go, Green Arrow shot an arrow at Vigilante before he could kill Mr. Terrific, strapping Vigilante to a pillar, although he managed to escape before the Green Arrow could unmask him.
After the alien invaders known as the Dominators kidnapped Oliver, Thea, Diggle, Ray, and Sara sucking them up to their mother ship and placing them in a shared hallucination, Curtis and Felicity hack the aliens' technology to help Cisco to locate and rescue their teammate.
During the City Hall Christmas party, Paul witnessed Prometheus attacking and taking down Curtis, putting him in the hospital. Paul visited Curtis after he woke up, and told him that he could no longer handle Curtis being both his husband and Mr. Terrific at the same time as he began to feel worried that Curtis may never make it home alive after he started his vigilante activities; Paul told Curtis to choose before leaving. Less than 24 hours later, Curtis comes home and sees that Paul has packed his belongings and is moving out to his brother's house; Curtis is left devastated.
After "Laurel Lance" make an apparent return from the dead, Felicity held a party to celebrate the event, introducing her to Rene, Rory, and Curtis who, however, was not in a good mood due to his separation with Paul. Later, after Laurel is revealed to be the Earth-Two doppelgänger of the one they knew, and Oliver agreed to met her at the Black Canary statue as she insisted she was being used by Prometheus and not intentionally their enemy, Mr. Terrific attack her under Felicity's order and is knocked to the ground by Laurel's powers forcing Green Arrow to use a tranquilizer arrow to render her unconscious.
After this, Curtis expressed his frustration to Rene, stating that it's unfair that he had lost his husband in order to be a vigilante and yet, no matter how hard he tries, he's not material. Later, as Team Arrow faced Prometheus and the escaped Black Siren into a warehouse when she was about to kill both Oliver and Felicity, Mr. Terrific used a dampening device to stop her from using her power allowing Felicity to spitefully knocked her out. That evening Rene tells Curtis to concentrate on what he can do rather than what he can't, stating that his skill set is "pretty badass."
A few days later, Curtis showed to Team Arrow video footages of "Tina Boland" fighting and using her sonic scream against bad guys. After agreeing that she was perfect to be the next Canary, Curtis, Rene and Oliver went together to Hub City to recruit her, eventually persuading her to accept after they helped her to take down Sean Sonus and his gang.
After Diggle was released from prison, Curtis traveled with the team to Russia in search of General Walker. After landing in the country, the team was initially greeted by one of the Solntsevskaya Bratva - Anatoly Knyazev, who was furious with Oliver and told him to get out. After finding the hideout, the team settled indefinitely, trying with Felicity's help to find their target. However, this one was unavailable, so the computer scientist took Curtis and Rory to a meeting with a certain Maxim Ostrovsky, from whom she learned many things - including the whereabouts of a target who wanted to leave the country and sell a bomb. However, avengers with the Bratva stood in his way, who stopped Walker, and Ragman limited the destruction of the device's explosion. After the general was arrested, the vigilantes returned to Star City, resuming their crusade.
When an unknown criminal in the city hall triggered a shootout, injuring and killing several people, and then fled, the city was on alert. Curtis, working with the team, tried to find out who the attacker was while trying to convince Rene that people should not have a gun as they could lead to what the bomber did in the city hall. It was only after much arguing that Rene revealed that he thought otherwise, because he could save his wife with a gun, which confused Curtis. When the perpetrator was found and arrested, Rene stopped feeling sorry for his past and got an offer from Curtis that the man should try to get his daughter back. After these events, the hero participated in a rally in front of the city hall, which was to commemorate those who died as a result of a shootout in the building. It was then that the mayor announced that a law came into force allowing Star City residents to use weapons for self-defense purposes.
When China White, Carrie Cutter and Liza Warner escaped from the prison bus, the team's goal was to find and capture the women. Curtis prepared a new version of his suit before the action, which was to be more durable and together with Wild Dog they pressed one of the members of the Chinese Triad, thus learning about the purpose of the women. They wanted to find Tobias Church's deposit, which had hidden a huge amount of cash for the rainy day. This brought the vigilantes a lot closer to capturing the women, but they were blocked by an ACU squad that wanted to shut down Green Arrow for the murder of Detective Malone. When Captain Pike was finally convinced of the vigilante's innocence, the heroes found Church's deposit and turned up there along with the criminals. A fight began there, which the avengers would have lost had it not been for ACU's intervention, which caught the fugitives and forgave the archer at the request of Mayor Queen.
Curtis, following Rene's advice, went on to do what he did best and created the T-Sphere that needed a lot of refinement. It was then that it became known that Oliver was accused of concealing the truth about the death of Detective Malone. After watching Bethany Snow's news on TV, Curtis received a call from his husband who asked to meet. This news motivated the man all day long as he felt that they would be able to get back down. Hours after the Vigilante attacked Oliver and Dinah delivered a piece of his mask to the base, the heroes began chasing the vigilante. They found him opposite the city hall, where the mayor was giving a speech, and successfully stopped the enemy thanks to the new way of fighting criminals, Mr. Terrific. After all, Curtis went to a restaurant late in the evening, where he told Paul on the run that he had managed to stop a terrorist attack. Paul was silent at the time as he pulled the divorce case envelope from his pocket and set it on the table. Immediately after that, he got up and, sadly and regretfully, left the restaurant and the confused Curtis.
When it turned out that the district attorney Adrian Chase was hiding under the mask of Prometheus, the team was put on a straight line and tried to outsmart the enemy who was still one step ahead of them. No action could lead them to a positive result, on the contrary - they were constantly mistaken for the criminal. Eventually, thanks to Felicity, they found a clue to the kidnapped journalist, Susan Williams. Following him, they came across an abandoned building with bombs in it. When they found the woman they were looking for, Green Arrow began fighting Prometheus.
Meanwhile, Curtis tried to get Rene and Dinah out of the rubble room using the T-Sphere. When they returned to the archer to help him in the fight, there was no trace of him and the criminal, only his bow remained.
It's been seven days since Oliver's disappearance, but the team couldn't find him despite Curtis and Felicity's efforts. Unexpectedly seriously injured, exhausted and in pain, the man entered the hideout, which made the team happy. Oliver choked out with the last of his strength that it made no sense and did not intend to continue it, clearly showing that this was the end of his actions and surprising his friends.
War against Prometheus
When the rest of the team found out that Oliver had shut down the bunker and closed the bunker, Oliver had shut down the team's activities, it became a mess. John, however, did not intend to leave the city unprotected, especially when Prometheus was at large. As planned, the team was trying to protect Star City, and when they got information about the theft of drugs from a certain company, they went to the scene. There, to their surprise, they met Anatoly, who revealed that he had been invited to the city and was allowed to do so. As it turned out, Oliver invited the Bratva to the city to kill Adrian. Diggle was not going to let this happen and led the team to save the criminal by eliminating the activities of the brotherhood. While Curtis and Felicity were doing something for Helix, trying to get proof that Adrian was Prometheus, the rest of the team persuaded Oliver to revert to old values and successfully stopped the brotherhood from further stealing drugs. After that, Holt and Smoak brought in a video showing Adrian being the killer, which was then to be delivered by Dinah to the police. Then, in the bunker, Oliver apologized to the team for his behavior, revealing a converted base with costumes stands for the new members, saying that they would defeat the enemy together. Curtis later continued to help Felicity and Helix.
The team cooperated with A.R.G.U.S. and the police to find the wanted Adrian Chase. They found his lead in an internet cafe, but this one turned out to be a mere distraction. As if that were not enough, one of A.R.G.U.S. was murdered under unknown circumstances and the heroes, at Lyla's instigation, decided to help the agency find the perpetrator. It quickly turned out that Helix was behind everything, and Felicity herself knew it from the beginning, believing that the hacker organization was trying to find Chase at all costs, but first they had to get Cayden James, who was kidnapped by A.R.G.U.S. This led to a split in the team, which excluded Felicity from the mission, believing that only by helping Lyla could they move forward with the investigation. Despite Helix's efforts, he successfully recaptured his man, preventing the heroes from chasing them. Soon after, hackers rejected Felicity, believing her affiliation with A.R.G.U.S. and the vigilantes are threatening her, and as a thank you for her help, she has been given a device designed by James that can track a man from his heartbeat.
When Felicity and Oliver gave no sign of their lives for a long time, Curtis, at the request of the team, went to the bunker, where he discovered that there was no electricity. Thus, he guessed that the friends were locked up there. He called up a team and explained that Oliver and Felicity would run out of air in a few hours. Together, they tried to save their friends through the elevator shaft, but it soon turned out that it was impossible, because methane
was rising towards them from below. During this time, Lyla provided with A.R.G.U.S. a copied version of the T-Sphere, which upset both the creator and John, who could not understand his wife's actions as head of a government organization. Nevertheless, with the help of the device, the team reached friends who were successfully saved. Prometheus was accused of this for wanting to detain the band in order to get to William Clayton.
The team was back in a vertical position when a package with a concrete skeleton was sent to Oliver's office. The vigilantes understood that Prometheus was still playing with them, and as if that were not enough, all the criminals put behind bars by Adrian Chase were released. Thus, the heroes were forced to deal
with the most dangerous of them, focusing on Derek Sampson. After some time, the team caught on to Prometheus, but fell into a trap and had to let go of the dealer. It was only later that the two criminals were chased into one place, and while the recruits dealt with Sampson, the Green Arrow defeated Prometheus, contributing to his arrest in A.R.G.U.S. Enjoying the fact that they had managed to defeat the enemy, the vigilantes went to celebrate their victory.
Curtis and the rest of the team prepared a birthday party for Oliver. They waited for him at Felicity's house and were going to scare him, but Oliver attacked Curtis unexpectedly, thinking he was an armed attacker. After toasting and spending some time together, Curtis went to visit Dinah, who had missed the party. He noticed a broken glass outside, so he introduced Felicity on the phone that someone might have broken into it.
He was deafened upon entering, and when he awoke he was chained to Quentin, Thea, Felicity, and John on Lian Yu with Adrian, Black Siren, Evelyn, and followers of Talia al Ghul standing in front of them.
Curtis and half of the team were moved to special cages on the island, where Oliver collaborating with Slade Wilson found them after some time. After their release, Oliver ordered them to find the plane and leave the island, promising to end Chase matters on his own. Some time later, the rest of the team joined their group, but they discovered that the vehicle was damaged there, and C4 charges were scattered throughout the location. Before they all got away, these were activated, destroying the island.
Cayden James attacks
Curtis managed to survive the blast and for the next few months he worked with the team in Star City, facing Alex Faust, among others, who was eventually caught. To their surprise, the Black Siren collaborated with the man tasked with getting captured. Thus, they attacked the police station, leaving the heroes unsure and asking where they would attack again. The vigilantes tracked down the criminals' truck they attacked. As a result of Spartan's inattention, however, Wild Dog suffered, who was hospitalized with a collapsed lung. Oliver obtained plans for the city hall, where awards were to be held for cadets from the police academy, which they set as a potential target of the attack. The ceremony, however, was flawless as the whole action was just a trick. The criminals attacked the bunker, but the attack was repelled, and the Black Siren escaped with the T-Spher prototype.
When an anonymous subject donated a photo of Oliver in the Green Arrow suit to Channel 52, Curtis and Felicity spent a long time trying to use a variety of algorithms to discover the origin of the file, as well as the location where it was taken. At the same time, they contemplated work that would provide them with money. As if that were not enough, Anatoly Knyazev appeared in the city, who was targeted by the vigilantes. After much thought, the technicians managed to solve the mystery, as well as rescue the hostages from the enemy's hands. When it was over, they relayed all the information to the television, clearing Oliver's name. Felicity decided to join forces with Curtis and work with him, as both their skills and personalities matched extremely well.
Soon after John took over the title of the Green Arrow, the team chased after Alex Faust who had previously managed to escape them. We managed to successfully surround him and stun him, putting him behind bars. In the bunker, Diggle revealed that he was not sure if their plan would work, as someone would eventually notice that the vigilante was not using arrows. After the mysterious team attacked Kord Industries, the team began looking for connections and discovered the intentions of a woman named Onyx Adams and her team. They were expecting an attack on Kord's truck, so they decided to secure it. However, the team was easily defeated, the cargo was stolen, and as a result of Diggle's indecision, several innocent people suffered. Despite different opinions about the leader, everyone still had a goal - to stop the criminal. The heroes discovered that Rob Reynolds would be the next target of the attack, so they headed to his location. Together, they managed to defeat the criminals, which they later celebrated at the base. Curtis and Felicyty revealed that they worked behind a crossbow for John, who would fire arrows, and presented him with a Green Monster.
Curtis was still working with Felicity on the company's startup when a problem arose in the form of the mysterious and seemingly random three Black Siren victims. Not wanting to allow further death, Curtis created a device that could track an enemy when he used his abilities. This way, they tracked her down to Helix's old hideout, where it turned out that she was working with Cayden James. Alena suffered as a result of the fight, and the vigilantes immediately transported her to the hospital. As they failed to catch the criminals, the team began looking for links between the victims of the evil Laurel. Each of them shared a boring life that was a cover. In fact, they were important personalities working in the International Domain Name Directory vault, and had access to all the servers that comprised the internet. Thus, they understood that the criminals wanted to get into the server room and destroy the internet. They immediately went to the place where they began to fight the enemy who had managed to escape. Their action, however, was partially successful, because thanks to Felicity's cunning, it was possible to save the network.
When Vigilante set the target of Councilor Pollard, the team began looking for clues about the vigilante. Soon after, Dinah confronted the criminal alone, discovering that her ex-partner Vincent Sobel was hidden under the mask. Based on the scales obtained from the crime scene, the heroes discovered his hideout, which contained a large supply of ammunition. The team was about to attack a criminal at Channel 52 headquarters, but Agent Watson thwarted their plans by preventing them from meeting. In Oliver's absence, a team led by John investigated a criminal gang, but their leader managed to escape. As it turned out, thanks to Felicity's efforts, their opponent was Ricardo Diaz - a man known by the code name Dragon, a criminal who will not bow to anything. The heroes tried to get him, eliminating most of his men, but he managed to escape again, throwing the ball towards Diggle. Upon returning to the hideout, the vigilantes rethought their actions and discovered that Diaz was behind the production and sale of a steroid that would increase combat abilities and concentration. Thanks to John's informant, the heroes obtained the address of his laboratory, where they eventually went. Unfortunately for them, everything was destroyed and Diaz managed to escape once again. After a few hours, Diggle decided to tell his friends the truth that he was taking Ricardo to get rid of the hand vibrations that resulted from the wounds he received on Lian Yu. The team accepted the soldier's apology, and Curtis agreed to help his friend in the same way he helped Felicity get out of her wheelchair.
Curtis studied John's condition for hours, eventually giving him the drug Felicity had previously received when she had a walking disc implanted in her after a spinal injury. Suddenly, the rest of the team members came to the hideout, having learned about Oliver's arrest by the FBI. However, no one could show the city that the Green Arrow is Oliver and that after his arrest, the vigilante will stop appearing, so they decided to continue. Upon learning that Cayden James was working with the Black Siren again, they decided to attack them at the company they were breaking into. There, however, Diggle suffered a pain attack and had to send the team alone, but failed to catch the enemy. Curtis, understanding the reason for the attack, took his friend to the hospital, where Dr. Schwartz looked after him. After all, Curtis returned to the hideout, where he argued with Felicity about making his own decisions about their joint activities. In the end, however, they came to an agreement and decided to continue fighting the hacker, with the help of Oliver, who was released on bail. Together with him, they discovered that James was taking revenge on the Arrow for killing his son - Owen Post. Despite trying to capture the criminal, he managed to escape, making the Anti-Vigilante Act come into force, making the work of the heroes difficult.
Crisis on Earth-X
Felicity contacted Curtis to help the scientists at S.T.A.R. Labs in tracking down the Nazis from Earth-X. A few hours later, Mister Terrific, along with Wild Dog and Black Canary, showed up in person at the lab where they defended Heat Wave and Killer Frost by battling the Dark Arrow. The opponent, however, turned out to be a skilled fighter and easily defeated the vigilantes. He then ordered his men to lock them in a tube in their cells, which they were unaware of due to their unconsciousness.
When the heroes kidnapped to Earth-X returned to Earth-1 with the support of The Ray and Citizen Cold, Curtis and his other allies were freed from their cells by Citizen Steel, with whom he then defeated Metallo. Immediately after that, everyone went to the Waverider, where they began to prepare for a fight with the enemy, when they were interrupted by a message from the evil Oliver, who offered a truce in exchange for Supergirl's life. The heroes, however, did not agree, causing a fight in the streets of the city. It soon became apparent that Overgirl was becoming unstable and could explode, wiping Central City off the face of the Earth. Wells advised Supergirl to take her doppelganger up into space, where it was destroyed. Thus, the Green Arrow murdered Dark Arrow, ending the war, after which the vigilantes returned to Star City.
Establishing a new team
The entire team attended Oliver and Felicity's wedding, with Curtis spending most of his time with Rene and Dinah. The party made the man think about relationships and breakup, which led to intoxication. Even so, he was sober enough to catch the bride's bouquet, but was unable to speak normally, and Rene decided to take his friend back to his own house. Quentin was kidnapped shortly after, and Cayden James made demands for a power device from the A.R.G.U.S. headquarters that the vigilantes had stolen. Oliver asked Curtis to remake the device, and Curtis agreed. Immediately afterwards, it became known that Oliver, Felicity and John were informed that someone on the team was going to testify against the mayor in front of Agent Watson. The three suspected Dinah, whom they rejected from the crew, confessing that they had spied on both Rene and Curtis, leading to an altercation of trust. It turned out, however, that it was Rene, whose FBI agent had pushed him to the wall, threatening him that if he did not help, his daughter would never see her father again. The confession upset Oliver, who kicked the man from the team. A few hours later, after talking frankly with Thea, Oliver gave the band a second chance, getting ready to take Quentin back from Cayden. Even though it all turned out well, the mayor kicked Rene out of the team for disobedience during the mission, and Dinah, who could not trust the team, left with him. A few hours later, Curtis also resigned, admitting he can't trust people who don't trust him.
For the next several weeks, Curtis avoided the rest of the team, but continued to work with Felicity on a chip that would help John get back in shape. In late January 2018, the man visited the bunker where he met Oliver in the elevator. His goal was only to try to place the device in Diggle's hand, which was unsuccessful. Curtis decided to work on the equipment in his home, not wanting to spend more time in the bunker. Immediately afterwards, he visited Rene and Zoe who was getting ready for school. They discussed what had happened in the squad's ranks, with Rene beginning to feel guilty about what had happened. Some time later, Curtis, Rene, and Dinah were summoned to Felicity's house, who, along with John, presented them with discoveries that there had been a bedbug in the bunker for several months. As a result, Cayden's team, which included Ricardo Diaz, Anatoly Knyazev and Vigilante, knew everything about the vigilantes.
After this awkward conversation, Curtis and Rene made their way to Ramirez's house, where Dinah joined them soon after. She decided that they had to form their own band because they couldn't sit with their hands folded. Hours later, the three were invited again by the Team Arrow, and during the meeting, Oliver apologized for his behavior, explaining his intentions and expecting the recruits to help him in his fight against Cayden. However, they disagreed, believing that they prefer to be in Outsiders where they are appreciated. As a farewell, Curtis handed John the repaired chip, then left the rest of the way. The three went to the hideout Curtis had prepared for their team.
The Outsiders were working in their hideout when they found out that Cayden James had mastered the city's entire infrastructure and was causing harm to innocent people from a distance. Their thoughts were interrupted by the activation of one of the T-Sphere, which began targeting the Vigilante itself. The team decided to go to the scene and check everything in order to finally be able to capture the enemy. There Curtis met Vincent, who offered to cooperate and, as proof of his reliability, indicated the site of the impending tragedy. Curtis did not tell the rest of the team, and as soon as they returned to base, he called Felicity, wanting to know the location of the place indicated by the enemy. Immediately after that, they went to an underground link between two train routes, where the two vehicles were racing at each other. As neither Curtis nor Rene could separate the tracks, Dinah started screaming so hard at one of the trains that she finally stopped it. Upon returning to the base, Curtis told his friends that the information he had had been passed on to him by Vincent Sobel himself, believing that they should trust him. After discussing the details, the heroes unanimously agreed that they should use the information from the enemy, who interrupted the conversation and sent another message using T-Sphera. According to its content, the heroes went to the indicated place, but for safety reasons, they contacted the Team Arrow, with whom they decided to join forces for this one time. Together, they held back Boots's attack on a safe zone of the city, and during the fight, the Vigilante once again proved his worth by killing Sheck in defense of Rene. After that, both teams returned to their hiding places, ending cooperation.
The city was in fear of the recent actions of Cayden James, who continued his activities by murdering A.R.G.U.S. during one of the missions. Dinah continued her relationship with Vincent, who continued to feed the Outsiders. During one of the meetings, he was attacked by the Team Arrow, but Wild Dog and Mister Terrific immediately stopped them from being stupid by confessing the truth about the Vigilante. Everyone immediately went to the hideout, where all inconveniences were cleared up. Oliver, however, still did not trust Vince, but needed him to hack Cayden's servers. Everything went as planned, but as soon as Vincent left the building, criminals caught him, seeing him as a traitor. As soon as the heroes found out about it, they set off to save him. Unfortunately for them, the original line-up of the team preferred to find the discovered bomb, rather than saving the ally, and thus only the Outsiders went to save Vincent. On the spot, however, they fell into a trap and were separated. Dinah crushed the ceiling as she watched the Black Siren murder Sobel on Cayden's orders before her eyes. When Curtis and Rene arrived, it was too late to rescue the ally. Returning to base, the devastated woman thanked her friends that they had gone with her to get Vincent, then went home.
Realizing that Dinah was pursuing Laurel Lance, Curtis and Rene decided to stop her, but to no avail. Returning to the hideout, the men received a call from John, who informed the allies about Cayden James' plans and the intention to activate the bomb in the evening. He also revealed that they could avoid it by bringing the man's allies alive to a specific place. The heroes unanimously decided that it would be best to deal with the Black Siren first, because Dinah is on her trail. As expected, the vigilantes met women fighting each other, breaking them apart. After a short discussion, the heroes split up again to catch Anatoly and Diaz. When they were all captured, they immediately went to the assembly point. There Laurel, wanting to upset Cayden, confessed to killing his son and approached him, beginning to insult him. The latter, knowing that the woman was lying, slapped her, not realizing that the bomb's activator was interfering with the meta-gene blocking collar. In doing so, Laurel managed to break free and make a mess, deafening Cayden and allowing the others to escape. The heroes immediately set off to pursue the criminals who, despite their best efforts, managed to escape. Cayden himself, however, was caught and arrested. The Outsiders, however, left the bunker, believing that their joint victory still changed nothing. Oliver held Dinah out and told her she was better than this and didn't need to kill.
When it became known that the city's 70 million stolen by Cayden James had been stolen again, both the Outsiders and the Team Arrow began looking for answers to who had stolen them. As it turned out, Laurel Lance was behind it all. Both teams started looking for the woman from the place where they last saw her.
When the Outsiders returned to their hideout with nothing, the vigilantes suddenly stormed them, following the clue they had found, indicating that the wanted one was in this place. There was an argument between the two teams, which resulted in a strong disagreement.
Rene took the opportunity to argue with Oliver and attached a bug to his costume, thanks to which they could overhear their achievements in their search. Thus, after a few hours, they found out that it was Quentin who was hiding Laurel and they set off to the set place after the old team.
However, they found out that they were being followed and threw out the bug, losing the Outsiders. Curtis refused to give up and used an implant implanted in John's hand to track down the vigilantes.
When they got there, a fight ensued between the two teams, during which Laurel began running away with Quentin. Rene fought Oliver when Curtis decided to run after Dinah and stop her from doing a foolishness. He managed to speak to his friend, but Lance took the opportunity and ran away.
Rene's condition, led to him by Oliver, meant that he had to be transported to the hospital as soon as possible. After waiting for a message for several hours, Dr. Schwartz said they needed to transfer the patient to a facility outside of Star City. After a moment, John and Felicity appeared, wanting to know their friend's condition. Curtis made it clear that they had no right to ask about it and that they were not friends, ending the cooperation they had, all communication and acquaintance.
The next day, Curtis visited Zoe Ramirez, right after her guardian had left. He gathered to tell her about his father's condition and what happened to him.
Curtis helped Dinah through the cops' files to discover who was corrupt. Thus, he found out about Nick Anastas, which he liked. Their discussion was interrupted by Zoe, who had come home from school. At the same time, Drake had to go back to work to deal with the homicide. She found a drug there, but then Kimberly Hill took over. The woman began to suspect that her supervisor was also corrupt, and she and Curtis decided to break into the evidence room at the police station. It was then that Curtis ran into Nick, whom he talked to so Dinah could complete her investigation. After returning to the base, it turned out that the drug was vertigo. The next day, Curtis came to the police station to make an appointment with Nick. He soon learned from Dinah that all samples of the drug from previous years had disappeared, suspecting Captain Hill of taking money from Diaz.
Curtis and Dinah, due to the lack of Rene in the team, decided to make a temporary alliance with the Team Arrow. They informed them of their temporary discovery, and in return asked for help in capturing Anatoly Knyazev. The plan was successful and the criminal was imprisoned, but the first complications appeared on the spot. Captain Hill, along with Attorney Armand, ordered the criminals to be released, focusing on the unjust arrest. As if that were not enough, Martin Hurst was murdered shortly after, as a result of which Dinah decided to hide the remaining uncorrupted policemen along with Curtis. Unfortunately for them, among them was the traitor who released their location. Curtis was shot and Anastas learned the truth about his secret "work". Despite everything, the policemen managed to escape, but the happy moments did not last long. Captain Hill had kicked out all uncorrupted policemen from the police force before her departure, which was notified to Dinah and Curtis, who had come to visit the man.
Curtis visited Felicity at her home to continue work on Helix Dynamics. The man felt uncomfortable after what had happened between the two teams. Felicity, however, explained that she has nothing in common with the vigilantes, talking about the recent changes in the team. This surprised Curtis, but he decided to work with a friend. During this, he noticed her workaholism, effectively concluding with the lack of something in her life - the possibility of caring for her husband during a bunker mission. The woman didn't want to admit it at first, until she saw the final Green Arrow action on TV.
Curtis picked up Rene from the hospital after being away for over a month. Upon entering the house, the man spotted his daughter and Dinah preparing a Christmas greeting. Soon after, the team headed to their hideout, where they began discussing their plans, noting the Dragon's connection to the Quadrant.
So they tracked down the Scorpions and destroyed the weapons cage, trying to provoke Diaz to leave his hideout. Unfortunately for them they were attacked by Lydia Cassamento's men, which prompted the heroes to flee. Diggle came to the rescue, who with A.R.G.U.S. helped friends in retreat.
In the hideout, John apologized for the harm he had done to them and for the distrust he had placed in them. The conversation was interrupted by Quentin, who pointed out to the vigilantes that Diaz was a member of the Quadrant. This forced the avengers to take the next steps, namely to destroy the loaded trucks, but without Ramirez, who could not shake the thought of death and parting with his daughter.
After returning to the hideout, the avengers invited John to the team, being satisfied with the cooperation. The man declined, wanting to complete his current goal, but promised to support the team whenever needed. After all, Curtis visited Rene, wanting to know if he was going to come back to the band, but Rene wasn't entirely sure, worried about leaving his daughter behind.
Unexpectedly, Zoe left her room, revealing that she knew the truth about the activities of her father and friends. She wanted him to continue to be Wild Dog because he fights for a home - her home. Hours later, the three watched the news of Bethany Snow publicly announcing Oliver's arrest, noting that the trial would be held on May 3.
Hours before Queen's trial, the team wondered in their hideout what to do. After a brief discussion, they all agreed that no matter what they thought about Oliver, his secret was a threat to their secret, and they went to court to support Felicity and William. Curtis is the only one who has not been questioned, which allowed him to watch Alexa Van Owen drown Dinah and Rene being forced by Diaz to tell the truth, under the threat of killing his daughter. However, Diggle brought Human Target to Star City, who disguised himself as Tommy Merlyn and told the story that he was the Green Arrow that the Spartan and Wild Dog later retook from the hands of the police. Soon after this, testimony was made by Laurel Lance herself, who stood up for Oliver and did not reveal his secret identity. However, the jury sentenced Oliver, but thanks to Rene, Christopher Chance pretended to be a judge who waived the council's sentence, finding it unfair, thanks to which the former mayor of the city was acquitted.
Curtis was showing Nick his workplace when armed assailants appeared outside the windows and started shooting at the apartment. Curtis wasn't injured, but Anastas took the ball for a boyfriend. The protagonist quickly transferred the former policeman to the hospital, and then met the team in the hideout. The Team Arrow also arrived, the bunker of which was completely destroyed. As both teams had a common goal, they decided to work together. Thanks to the information from Anatoly, the heroes knew about Diaz's transport to the police station, so they attacked the truck.
Mister Terrific, seeing Ricardo fleeing, caught up with him and, filled with aggression, began to hit him on the ground. The gangster quickly broke free and stabbed the avenger, then quickly escaped, picking up the lost flash drive along the way. The team ordered a retreat, taking Curtis to the hospital. Soon after, the man showed up in the hideout wanting to help, but was sent by Dinah to the hospital due to wounds that still had not healed. Oliver made a deal with Agent Watson, and the FBI began working with the vigilantes. Together, they recaptured the command, but they did not encounter Diaz there. Anatoly gave them some location, but it turned out to be a mined trap into which the heroes entered. Rene, fearing for his own life, called his daughter and told her that he was proud of her. Ultimately, thanks to Overwatch, it was possible to get out of the way and come back on command to regroup and make another plan. The heroes used Quentin to get to Ricardo. The mayor, however, did not want to return without Laurel and turned himself over to the gangster, to everyone's surprise. As Oliver searched for a solution, he remembered the pacemaker in the ex-cop's heart that could track him. Immediately after being located, they rushed to the scene and began fighting criminals.
Ultimately, Ricardo managed to survive and escape the mishap, so the heroes went to the hospital with a wounded Lance. While they waited for news of his condition, Agent Watson arrived and arrested Oliver. It turned out that the cost of cooperation was the voluntary handing over of the man to the agency, with the emphasis on immunity for other avengers. As if that were not enough, Dr. Schwartz informed the audience of Quentin's death, which broke everyone. When Oliver was transported to prison a few hours later, he pleaded guilty to reporters and cleared Roy Harper and Tommy Merlyn, and asked his friends to fight and not leave the city to their fate.
Curtis later became a member of A.R.G.U.S., but later leaves the group following a disagreement over the decision to revive the Suicide Squad with a new name; Ghost Initiative. So he accepts a new job in Washington, D.C. and leaves Star City. He later returns to help Team Arrow to track down Emiko Queen and her biological weapon. After winning, he returns to Washington.
In 2019, Curtis comes back to help Team Arrow defeat Grant Wilson. So Oliver gives him a special mission to investigate a weapon that could kill the Monitor. Curtis later tells Oliver the weapon can only be made in Russia.
During the Crisis, Curtis as well as everyone in the multiverse except for the seven Paragons, was killed in an antimatter wave by the Anti-Monitor on December 10, 2019, only to be restored a month later, after the Paragons and the Spectre created a new universe.
- "Look. Living in Star City requires a special kind of tenacity. A sane person wouldn't live here. It's a fact that Paul likes to remind me of weekly. We were this close to leaving Star City last October. After three terrorist attacks, we were done, but then the night before we were going to start packing, the Green Arrow popped up on our TV, and he reminded me that this city is worth saving, that my home—that my home was worth fighting for. That guy gave me inspiration. He gave me hope. And if he could give me hope then, why can't he give it to others now?"
- —Curtis Holt to Oliver Queen[src]
Curtis is highly intelligent, kind, caring, selfless, moral, honorable, just and optimistic. He is a hardworking man with respect, acceptance and appreciation for Palmer Technologies employees. He is assertive and makes a very good impression without being influenced by others. He always makes fair decisions, is consistent, firm, decisive, even when criticism is unavoidable. Curtis is extremely cool and is also not afraid to make unpopular decisions. He believed that when Felicity Smoak returned to Star City, the company would flourish again, but when he heard the dismissal, he walked away with honor, enjoying the long-planned vacation with his husband.
When Curtis found out that Felicity Smoak was working with Green Arrow, he was proud of her as he joined the company to help his city, which is what the head of the corporation does.Curtis also has a dislike for guns, to the point that he believes that guns should be outlawed. Rene Ramirez gives him an opposing viewpoint in this regard but Curtis is adamant in his beliefs about the weapons regardless.
- "Wait, you don't know 'fair play,' Terry Sloane? Terry Sloane? Mr. Terrific? The greatest wrestler in the history of wrestling. He was so good that he wore an outfit with the words 'fair play' written across it. Like, 'I'm so good, I don't even need to cheat to beat you'. He's kind of my idol."
- —Curtis Holt[src]
Just like the other heroes on Earth-1. Curtis has a big belief in taking the law in his own hands. He wishes to make a difference in this way. Before he was feeling discouraged when he was getting beaten up on the battlefield, but gained much confidence when he made his T-Spheres. However, his vigilante activities cost him his husband Paul and he felt very affected by this emotionally.
Curtis has a sense of justice, honor and good morals; when he learns that Oliver had him on surveillance (as he believed he could possibly be the witness that will testified against him in court - regarding his identity as Green Arrow) he became completely disgusted by his actions and more so when he discovers that even John Diggle and Felicity Smoak did not trust him; simply due to the incident with Evelyn Sharp, even after he had genuinely proven himself trustworthy, and after Oliver (unfairly) kicked out Rene - Curtis finally left the team, having lost complete trust and respect for Oliver.
Later, when Oliver finally apologizes for his unfair/unjust treatment towards him, along with Dinah and Rene, and despite the sincerity of his apology, Curtis could not return to the team, having lost complete trust and respect for the original members of Team Arrow - firstly for the violation of his privacy and trust, but foremost because they never trusted him in the first place and did not treat him as an equal, as he felt strongly that he could not be part of a team where there was no trust.
During a physical (violent/brutal) confrontation with Team Arrow, Curtis hack into John's chip implant in his right arm, to inflicted life-threatening injuries, in order to take him out of the fight, in order to stand a better chance against Oliver and get to Laurel Lance; a sign that Curtis has lost his sense of justice, honor and morality.Curtis is a hypocrite, stating that he does not want anything to do with Oliver, John and Felicity anymore, due to them hurting Rene to the point where he needed to stay in the hospital because of the serious injuries Oliver had inflicted onto him, but Curtis himself has also inflicted life-threatening injuries to John, in order to find Laurel Lance (prior to Oliver putting Rene in critical condition) which he also does not apologise for.
- "Olympic decathlon medalist here. I got this."
- —Curtis Holt[src]
- Peak of human physical condition: Curtis mentioned that he was a bronze medal Olympic athlete who competed in Beijing. He has shown to keep a regular appearance at his gym and gets his inspiration from pro wrestler Terry Sloane.
- Genius-level intellect: Curtis' most prominent feature is his intellect, as he has 14 PhDs, including one in biomedical engineering. Curtis graduated college with a biochemistry degree, allowing him to localize the composition of the super-serum that gave Derek Sampson his powers. He led Palmer Technologies' Design Innovations department and was handpicked by Felicity Smoak to front the creation of several prototypes for the future. Curtis is also familiar enough with Morse code to easily decipher it.
- Master engineer: Curtis is a highly accomplished engineer, able to invent new forms of technology, such as the T-Spheres and contact lenses with HD displays. He also developed software for tracking certain pieces of technology when the situation demands it, a program he later added to the T-Spheres. Curtis designed infrared cameras with facial recognition functioning that were later used to identify Andy Diggle. Curtis also assisted Felicity and Cisco Ramon in hacking Dominator technology in order to locate Oliver Queen and his friends when they were kidnapped. His most noteworthy creation is a bio-stimulant chip that could repair major forms of paralysis.
- Computer specialist/Master computer hacker: Curtis is well-versed in the field of computer science, as he created an algorithm which would improve Palmer Technologies' efficiency by calculating the necessary number of layoffs needed to balance the company's budget and deciphered Ray Palmer's message hidden in Felicity's phone in the form of computer static. He also uploaded a virus into Larvan's army of robotic bees in order to take over and disarm them. Curtis is often backup computer support and mission control on Team Arrow when Felicity is unavailable.
- Multilingual: Curtis is capable of fluently speaking six languages, including English, French, and Russian, though he's noted by Anatoly Knyazev to have a "horrible" Russian accent.
- Expert hand-to-hand combatant/Martial artist: Curtis has proven himself to be an amateur combatant when the situation demands it, this is evidenced when the highly trained Roy Harper, an expert street fighter who was trained by Oliver, attacked him, during which Curtis managed to land two punches on him and evade some of his attacks. Since joining Team Arrow and being trained by Oliver himself, Curtis' combat skills have gradually improved, able to hold his own for a period against a skilled assassin in Scimitar with help from Evelyn Sharp. Curtis was soon able to briefly stand up to Prometheus and fight both Liza Warner and Carrie Cutter, though he was defeated. Months later, Curtis has become skilled enough to the point of being able to defeat Nazis from Earth-X with ease. During the Outsiders' battle with Team Arrow, Curtis was able to hold his own against Oliver alongside Rene Ramirez, but was easily overpowered.
- Mr. Terrific suits: Sometime after becoming one of the new members of Team Arrow, Curtis constructed a suit for himself made out of what would be ordinary clothes, including his favorite "Fair Play" jacket. To hide his identity, Curtis has his hair tied back in braids and wears a mask in the shape of a T, covering his eyes, nose, and mouth, effectively disguising his face. It is unknown how the mask is kept on his face. The suit later received some upgrades, making it more streamlined by adding white and red linings to the suit and added kevlar protection.
- T-Spheres: Jokingly called his "balls" by other members of Team Arrow, the T-Spheres are a pair of automated drones invented by Curtis originally as part of Felicity Smoak's program "prototypes for the future" at Palmer Technologies. After he quit and became Mr. Terrific, Curtis continued to work on the Spheres as a weapon to aid him in fighting crime. The T-Spheres had shown the following functions so far:
- Linking to computers/data via "quantum computing."
- Self-targeting projectile.
- Used as explosives, although this was originally seen as a fault in the original design.
- Able to track any type of technology if given a piece of its circuitry.
- Forming a laser grid between the spheres.
- Can serve as surveillance drones.
- Can be loaded with several CCs of adrenaline, should one need a jumpstart.
