The Daxamite cruiser, also known as the Daxamite mothership, is a spaceship used by Lar Gand and Rhea to find their son, Mon-El.

History[]

Travel through the universe[]

It is assumed that some years after Daxam's destruction, Rhea and Lar Gand (as well as many other Daxamites; their military forces, advisors and other associated officials, etc. - all numbering in the thousands, when combined with the rest of the fleet!) boarded on the cruiser and started traveling around the universe of Earth-38, looking for Mon-El to bring him back to their home planet. They visited the Well of Stars as a possible place, before moving on.[1]

When Mon-El arrived on Earth (Earth-38) and tried to contact Daxam, Rhea and Lar Gand received the signal sent from Earth (Earth-38) and started searching for their son. They visited Slaver's Moon shortly after Mon-El and Kara went there.[2]

Arriving to Earth[]

The D.E.O. kept the Maaldorians' transmatter portal portal on Earth (Earth-38) and later repaired and reconfigured it to transport J'onn, Kara and Winn onto Lar Gand and Rhea's spaceship. Once aboard the ship, they rescued Mon-El, and after tangling with Rhea and her guards, contacted Alex; telling her to reactivate the portal at the D.E.O.; forming a gateway at their location, enabling them to transmat back to the D.E.O. headquarters. After Lar Gand allowed Mon-El to stay on Earth (Earth-38), Rhea murdered the former and vowed to finish what she'd started.[3]

Kara watches the Daxamite army's fleet come to Earth (Earth-38) through Rhea and Lena's transmatter portal.

When Lena Luthor managed to get her own [much larger] transmatter portal working properly, Rhea revealed that the transmatter portal was being used to bring all the scattered Daxamite ships across the universe to Earth (Earth-38). Supergirl tried to destroy the structure, but it was self-sufficient and had a barrier to protect it as hundreds of ships came through it into California (Earth-38) and headed towards National City (Earth-38), as part of Rhea's plans to take over Earth; turning it into "New Daxam" in retaliation against the Superfriends.[4]

After Rhea and Lena Luthor built a portal device, Rhea used it to bring thousands of Daxamites on the fleet, over to National City, calling Earth the "new Daxam".

As Lena Luthor completed the transmatter portal, Rhea activated it, allowing the massive Daxamite fleet to enter and go to Earth through the portal, despite the efforts of Kara, Mon-El and J'onn; Demos noted that the ships headed to National City.[5]

The invasion[]

To force Mon-El back into the fold, Rhea took him and Lena to her ship, with the intention to forcefully marry the two.[6] Lena woke up and watched as the ships began to fire down below, and also teleport the Daxamite army to attack civilians on the streets. The Air Force One plane carrying Olivia Marsdin, the then-current president of the United States, was also targeted and shot down by the main Daxamite cruiser.[7]

As ships fired on and Daxamites teleported & invaded the city streets, chaos down below ensued; Supergirl was forced to use a device that released lead into the atmosphere, which forced all of the Daxamites to leave, while Rhea crumbled after a failed Dakkam Ur atop a skyscraper.[8]

As both a "thank you" and reward for having saved both the city and world, the National City committee built a Supergirl statue. At the unveiling, there was an attack on the waterfront by Bloodsport, but Supergirl was able to stop the submarine (cloaked like a Daxamite war ship) before anyone was seriously injured.[9]

Aftermath[]

At some point after his military service, Robert DuBois became a mercenary and terrorist known as Bloodsport. One night, he broke into his former base at Fort Harrison to steal a cloaking device from a Daxamite war ship (and attach it to his submarine) in General Sam Lane's possession. When Supergirl arrived, DuBois used the ship's beams to stun her and attack some nearby/accompanying American soldiers, allowing him to escape once more.[10]

General Sam Lane aided in the safekeeping of a Daxamite ship inside the base of Fort Harrison, following the Daxamite invasion. However, after it was hijacked by Robert DuBois, J'onn J'onzz called Lane and gave him a stern talking-to, threatening to have his stars stripped from him.[10]

Anti-Monitor Crisis[]

Ironically, a ship or two resembling that of Daxamite origin was one to go through an even bigger transmatter portal for the Evacuation of Earth-38;[11] later indirectly resulting in the formation of Earth-Prime. In the new universe, it has also participated in the Daxamite invasion of National City (Earth-Prime), where it was used as part of a commercial for the D.E.O..[12]

Scanners[]

  • Security cameras: The ship is filled with hidden high-resolution security cameras that record every compartment, which in case of tampering by Winn Schott, can also be accessed through a backup feed from the D.E.O. computers on the ground.

External Systems[]

  • Tractor beam: It is equipped with a tractor beam emitter that projects a beam of gravity outward in order to manipulate outside bodies. The beam is an attenuated beam of gravity that projects from the bottom of the ship that can attract objects to the ship or can be reversed to repel objects away.
  • Cloak shield:

Compartments[]

  • Bridge: This area contains all of the flight operations systems, control interfaces, holographic screen projector, the communications desk, and etc. The glass screen looking out into space often offers views of Earth (Earth-38), and sometimes National City (Earth-38).
  • Brig: This room houses a chamber used to keep prisoners aboard the ship. It is a simple opaque room with a cell in the middle with three metallic walls that can only be opened by its mechanical systems. According to Rhea, the brig is not suitable for long term containment.
