| "The multiverse has a way of aligning fates...It's written in the stars and in this book, or I wouldn't know that on this Earth, Clark Kent is Superman. Where I come from, that would be ridiculous. He can't see past his glasses." This article is about the location set in the Tim Burton universe. This article only contains information relevant to the Arrowverse. For information regarding that universe, please see Earth-89. |
Earth-89 was one of the many universes in the original multiverse.
History[]
Earth-89 was destroyed by antimatter at the beginning of the Anti-Monitor Crisis.[1]
When the Paragons and the Spectre created the new multiverse, a new universe of Earth-89 was created, which is said to be identical to this universe of Earth-89.[2]

Behind the scenes[]
- The number 89 references the year the first live-action Batman film was released into theaters in 1989.
- The Flash of Earth-TUD13 would later get this Earth's timeline mangled with his own in a version of 'Flashpoint', in The Flash 2023 film.
- Despite its appearance as Earth-89, this universe is slightly different from the one depicted in the original Batman movies; as the Joker is referred to still be alive here, while he was killed at the end of the film. It was later revealed that the continuity of Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns actually represents the Post-Crisis iteration of Earth-89 (according to one of Earth-9's Titans episodes/for Earth-9 (new multiverse)); meaning like some of the other earths, certain events in it's timeline were altered like Earth-96 for example when set in Earth-96 (new multiverse).
Trivia[]
- This is the second-lowest numbered universe of the original multiverse where a universe with the preceding number is not known to exist, with no Earth-88 identified.
