Among the many universes in the multiverse, Earth-X (German: Erde-X), briefly referred to as Planet Nazi by Mick Rory, was a universe where the Nazis won World War II and created a worldwide New Reich called the Fatherland that lasted well into the 2010s. Due to its horrific state, Earth-X didn't have a formal designation, since no sane individual from any other Earth had ever willingly traveled to that Earth. That all changed when visitors from another universe aided the local resistance movement in taking down the New Reich's leadership and eventually arresting one last member of the totalitarian regime, thus liberating the planet.

Earth-X was destroyed during the Anti-Monitor Crisis when Mobius' wave of antimatter made contact with the universe.

History

World War II

According to Harry Wells, the history and timeline of Earth-X followed the same as that of Earth-1, until one major difference: During World War II, the Nazis emerged victorious after nuking New York, London, Paris, and Moscow, forcing the complete surrender of the United States and United Kingdom, while annihilating the USSR altogether. After that, the Nazi German forces (headquartered in Berlin) spread out across the world, conquering everything in their path, including their former allies in Europe and Asia.

As they did so, the Schutzstaffel set up outposts throughout Europe and the Americas from which to establish complete and total domination. The Führer Hitler reigned over his worldwide New Reich for another forty-nine years until his death from natural causes in 1994. As of 2017, order was maintained by a small cadre of evil enforcers that included Tommy Merlyn/Prometheus, Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash, Metallo, and was helmed by the Führer Oliver/Dark Arrow and his wife Kara/Overgirl.

Earth-X invasion

By 2017, Overgirl had flown too close to the sun, so her heart was on the brink of failure from extreme exposure to solar radiation. The Führer resolved to track down another version of Kara to steal her heart and give it to his wife to save her. Through experimentation with trans-dimensional technology, the Earth-X villains discovered the means to travel between the various Earths. The forces of Earth-X subsequently invaded Earth-1 in pursuit of the Earth-38 Kara/Supergirl and recklessly attacked during the wedding of Barry Allen/The Flash and Iris West, but were decisively beaten back by the combined might of Supergirl, Team Flash, Team Arrow, the Legends and the Freedom Fighters.

The invasion was all for naught as, despite their best efforts, meticulous planning, and preliminary successes, the Earth-X villains were outmatched by their Earth-1 counterparts following a series of ugly confrontations, culminating in a massive street battle in Central City; each met their end: Overgirl going supernova and exploding in space, Prometheus committing suicide, Metallo being completely exploded, the Wellenreiter being destroyed, and Dark Arrow being shot in the heart by the Green Arrow. Only the Reverse-Flash survived but abandoned his Earth-X allies when their defeat became inevitable. Despite the invasion being a failure, it nonetheless caused massive collateral damage on both sides/Earths, and dealt an especially devastating blow to the Legends' team as Professor Martin Stein was killed in action against the Nazi forces, resulting in the loss of the Firestorm Matrix and Jefferson Jackson leaving the team soon after for the foreseeable future.

Months later, it was revealed by Leo Snart that the deaths of this Earth's leaders turned the tide of the Freedom Fighters' rebellion against the Nazis and that the New Reich has since been dismantled completely, ultimately restoring Earth-X to a peaceful world. The last Nazi loyalist, Siren-X, eluded capture for months in Star City until she was finally apprehended by Leo and Team Flash on Earth-1 (nearly destroying Central City via using Neil Borman/Fallout), and subsequently imprisoned by the new Earth-X authorities.

Anti-Monitor Crisis

At Some time between 2018 and 2019, Jay Garrick detected antimatter signatures near this Earth and marked them on his multiverse map. His prediction eventually turned out to be true, when the antimatter wave hit the Earth during the Anti-Monitor Crisis. The Ray was one individual who saw the antimatter wave hit one of the cities (Star City) in the USA.

In Germany, the Freedom Fighters are trying to protect a train on the Rübeland Railway line that is carrying weapons, from being captured against the Nazis. However, the antimatter wave swept over the railway, train and individuals, possibly disintegrating the rest of the country along with the whole continent of Europe.

After the Crisis, the Earth-X invasion was altered to an invasion of Time-traveling Nazi clones instead. Also, The Ray (who was originally from Earth-1) was restored on the new earth shortly after it's creation as well. For unknown reasons, Leo Snart (Ray's husband) was not restored (but was likely replaced with his Earth-1 doppelgänger on Earth-Prime.) this is an interesting observation considering the former is still deceased in the post-crisis timeline (presumably at the Vanishing Point) and the new Earth would require a version of him on it.

Overgirl was also resurrected briefly, but died shortly afterwards.It is unknown if a identical universe with the same constants was made following the crisis and the rebirth of the Multiverse; however given the current state of things and with the information available strongly supports the notion that this Earth was destroyed and replaced for good. Although it is mostly gone, some of it's constants were remade on Earth-Prime along with some details on a handful of other Earths. It is also unknown but possible (and most likely) that a completely new universe was made in it's place and took it's designation as well.

• The Earth of Earth-X is nicknamed "Planet Nazi" by Mick Rory and "Nazi Earth" by Cisco Ramon and Ray Terrill respectively.
• According to Tommy Merlyn, life here has no choices; it's all about following orders.
• At least two classifications are given to people in the concentration camp that Oliver Queen, Sara Lance, Martin Stein, Jefferson Jackson, Alex Danvers, and Barry Allen were sent to: So far, the ones seen match the color badges used for real Nazi prisoners:
  • Yellow Star of David badges are for Jews.
  • Pink triangle badges are for non-heterosexuals.
• Earth-X developed some form of a meritocracy.
• It was never explained on how the Earth-X villains knew to find Supergirl on Earth-1 instead of her former home world, Earth-38. But this point is rendered redundant for the Nazi invasion (Earth-Prime), once Earth-1 & X themselves merged together into Earth-Prime along with 38. The Nazis themselves later become time travelers instead.
  • Since Reverse-Flash is from Earth-1 and from the future, it's possible he knew Barry was getting married to Iris West and Supergirl would be attending the wedding; this might be a factor in the revised version of the events of the Nazi invasion (Earth-Prime).
  • It's also possible that the Earth-X Nazis knew Supergirl was visiting Earth-1 because, as stated by Overgirl, they'd been watching the heroes on both Earths for some time.

• Most of the Earth-X cities are unnamed when shown in titles or captions, but some overhead shots seem to use Los Angeles as a model: if one looks closely at a particular shot of Earth-X when a city is being consumed by antimatter, it may be possible to see a very tiny logo of CatCo (Worldwide Media) on one of the Citigroup buildings (of which there are many, duplicated throughout the scene). One can also recognise other L.A. buildings in the shot, if looking closely. It is possible that models of National City were used to show the example Earth-X cities for Star City (Earth-X), coincidentally resembling L.A..
• It is unknown how Hitler Lived up to being 103 by 1994 (Hitler was born in 1889) only to die of Natural Causes.
• The Quote "Oliver in the High Castle" is a reference to Phillip K. Dick's Novel [The] Man in the High Castle, which is about the Axis Powers winning World War Two; but a major difference though compared to Earth-X here, is that the Nazis and Imperial Japan are having their own somewhat one sided Cold War in the 1960's.
  • It later becomes the premise of an eponymous TV series, that was adopted from/based on the book. A holographic globe of the Earth (Earth-X) during Freedom Fighters: The Ray Season 1 "Episode Four", shows that the Mediterranean Sea between Europe and Africa has disappeared; where in the above mentioned novel, there were plans to dam and drain the sea to reclaim new land for the Greater Nazi Reich.
• This Earth (Earth-X) contained doppelgängers of people from both Earth-1 and 2 as well as 38; likely one of the first worlds that was shown in the original multiverse to be so.

Behind the scenes

• In the DC Comics continuity, the Nazis play the same role on Earth-X as they do in the Arrowverse. However, it is considered a part of the main 52 universes in the multiverse, rather than something outside of it, with its alternate versions in the continuity being known as Earth-10 (though it is still called "Earth-X", but in this case it is because the "X" is the Roman numeral of 10).
• There is a number of universes considered to be outside the main 52 universe in the comics, most recently the Dark Multiverse: a collection of "minus universes" born out of people's fears, regrets and nightmares, doomed to disintegrate and be superseded by the new "minus Earths". And like on Earth-X, heroic characters from mainstream continuity are twisted villains there (alternate versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman, namely).
• In the comics, the earth numbered Earth-X was one of the five surviving Earths that merged with the others (1, 2, 4 and S) and became the New Earth in the original Crisis on Infinite Earths event.
• Earth-X (despite it's former and previous state which was horrible) was one of the important earths in the multiverse as it was the main setting of the animated TV Series Freedom Fighters: The Ray which is apart of the Arrowverse (The others were Earth-1, 38, 90 and TUD5).
