The Enlightenment satellites were a series of five satellites Clifford DeVoe created for his plan to execute the Enlightenment. Each satellite was designed to harness and irradiate dark matter across Earth-1, erasing the intelligence of the entire human race. One of the satellites was destroyed by the Flash, although it did nothing as DeVoe simply replaced it with the S.T.A.R. Labs satellite instead.
After Team Flash thwarted DeVoe's plans and stopped the Enlightenment, the satellites remained in Earth's orbit until Cisco Ramon hacked into them to replace the S.T.A.R. Labs satellite.
History[]
In 2018, Clifford DeVoe began constructing a series of satellites as part of his plan to bring out the Enlightenment. He began stealing pieces of technology from tech companies, including alloy 1771 from Vandermeer Steel and a collection of quantum computers from Mercury Labs. The final component was the reactor chamber used to contain Fallout. Using his powers, DeVoe infiltrated the A.R.G.U.S. black ops facility 'castle' and rigged the chamber to generate nuclear fusion, using Borman as a battery.
After shrinking down the chamber and escaping, DeVoe proceeded to launch the satellites into Earth orbit using the powers of Null, Dwarfstar and Kilg%re. However, the Flash showed up and used one of Amunet Black's alloy shards to destroy one of the satellites, forcing DeVoe to hijack the S.T.A.R. Labs satellite as a suitable replacement.

Five satellites were used to trigger the Enlightenment.
DeVoe used the satellites to irradiate the entire planet with dark matter, eventually infecting 99.8% of Earth's atmosphere before his plan was thwarted. After his defeat, his wife Marlize shut down the satellites, putting an end to the enlightenment once and for all.
With DeVoe dead/the Hoverchair deactivated and the Enlightenment stopped, the satellites remained inactive for months until Cisco Ramon decided to hack into them in order to replace the S.T.A.R. Labs satellite, which DeVoe had hijacked trying to bring about an extinction-level event on Earth (Earth-1). After working around the multiplex-burst model channels and intra-sv handoff, Cisco successfully gained control of the satellites and regained Team Flash their eyes and ears throughout the city.
Shards from the S.T.A.R. Labs satellite that crashed in Central City were extremely irradiated with dark matter: creating meta-tech such as the lightning dagger. The satellite's core itself was deconstructed and teleported to the Mirrorverse via using the Mirror gun, engineered from the satellite's solar reflector panels themselves.
