Eobard Thawne had a pager that notified him when the Black Flash was nearby.
History[]
Due to his status as a time remnant, Eobard Thawne found himself hunted by the Black Flash. As a temporary measure while he and the Legion of Doom worked to acquire the Spear of Destiny, Eobard created or obtained a watch-like device that would alert him when the demonic speedster was nearby.
When Eobard was discussing the whereabouts of the rest of the spear with Malcolm Merlyn and Damien Darhk, his watch went off, prompting him to leave. The pager went off again when Eobard was trapped at Lindgren Banking Securities in 2025 Zurich by his associates, forcing him to disclose the truth.[1]
After Eobard escaped imprisonment aboard the Waverider and spoke to Ray Palmer, the pager went off, forcing Eobard to leave before he could search the ship for the spear.[2]
When the Legion of Doom used the spear to create a new reality, Eobard retired the pager, as the Black Flash was trapped in a cage within its S.T.A.R. Labs cortex.[3][4]

- Speed Force detection: It can be assumed that the pager senses the Black Flash's presence by detecting Speed Force activity, the same way the Black Flash himself hunts Eobard by tracking his use of the Speed Force.[1]

- This is the first watch-like device owned by Eobard Thawne, the second being his time manipulator from Season 7. The first helped Eobard evade the Black Flash for some time, while the second allowed him to protect the timeline.
- The pager is also similar to Barry Allen's speed gauge in that both are watch-like devices designed to monitor Speed Force activity in some way.
