Erik Frye is a former meta-human criminal who attempted to rob Central City Bank. He lost his pyrokinetic powers when Matthew Kim took them and mistakenly transferred them to Jaco Birch. In the new multiverse, Erik still has his fire powers.

Biography[]

Original multiverse[]

Last robbery[]

Erik Frye had been in Central City when the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator exploded. The dark matter gave him pyrokinetic abilities and Erik decided to use his powers for personal gain. However, when The Flash appeared, Erik left Central City and decided to start a crime spree "on the road".

Over three years later when The Flash disappeared, Erik returned to Central City. He tried to rob Central City Bank and melted the security guards' weapons. As Erik attempted to steal some money, he was suddenly challenged by Matthew Kim, who seemingly tried to appeal to him. Matthew touched Erik's shoulder but the latter threw him back and tried to kill him. However, Erik found that his powers were gone, much to his bewilderment where they were unknowingly placed into Jaco Birch. He was then tackled by security and arrested.[1]

Anti-Monitor Crisis[]

During the Anti-Monitor Crisis, Erik Frye as well as everyone in the multiverse except for the seven Paragons, was killed in an antimatter wave by the Anti-Monitor on December 10, 2019,[2] only to be restored a month later, after the Paragons and the Spectre created a new universe.[3]

New multiverse[]

Arrested and trial[]

Frye was arrested after burning down a building. Butane was found on the scene, and so the state didn't believe his pyrokinetic powers to be the cause of the blaze. While in court, he was represented by Cecile Horton.[4]

Powers and abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Meta-human physiology: After Erik was struck by the energy of the particle accelerator explosion, this altered his DNA and supercharged his cells, augmenting his physiology into allowing him to access his powers. However, thanks to Melting Point, Erik was stripped of his powers, rending him a normal human once again.[1] He is known to still have them in Earth-Prime's timeline.[4]
    • Pyrokinesis: Erik had the power to project fire from his hands of over 6,000 °F. These flames are hot enough to easily melt through the reinforced metal door of a bank vault.[1]
    • Enhanced Durability: Frye's powers grant him partial protection against physical harm. This is shown during his fights against both the Fiddler and Red Death, where he took severe hits from sound waves and lighting and was merely only knocked out.
      • Fire Immunity: Erik possesses a possible immunity to extreme heat and fire, as shown when he blasts fire from his hands without coming to any visible harm.[1]
      • Earth Manipulation: While Erik never used this, Birch was able to use his stolen powers to gain limited control over the Earth, specifically the hot parts of it.[5]
      • Fire Absorption: Frye's pyrokinetic abilities allow him to absorb both heat and fire.[5]
    • Anger Empowerment: Frye's anger could once be used to enhance his pyrokinetic abilities and even grant him new ones.
