Europe is a continent on Earth (Earth-1) that forms half of Eurasia. It is located to the west of Asia, north of Africa, and east of the Atlantic Ocean from the Americas on Earth-1.
History[]
Ancient times[]
to be written... In the classical period, Rome, the present-day capital city of Italy, was established as the Roman Republic whose last dictator was Julius Caesar. Caesar's assassination eventually led to the rise of the Roman Empire.[1]
Age of Exploration[]
- During the second millennium, the Wallenstein family were responsible for facilitating many conflicts through-out Earth-1's European history. These include supplying the Christians with weapons in the Holy Land during the Crusades, as well as the Turks during the siege of Constantinople, financing Napoleon during the French empire's campaigns, and Spanish conquistadors in the New World of the Americas, assisting the Nazis in building their war machine, supporting their defeat by the Soviet's Red Army and in turn betraying the communist empire for the capitalists to end their regime and transition into Russia.[2]
War after war[]
In the 20th century, World War I was a major global conflict that began after Gavrilo Princip assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo; Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 28, 1914.
Following the brief inter-war period, by 1939, World War II was a war that occurred across the world in the 1940s, until the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945, which came to be known as V-E (Victory in Europe) day on May 8.
Modern age[]
As seen on Markovian license plates[3] and the Swiss bank Schatten & Soehne Bank's logo,[4] by the 21st century, many European countries are part of the trading bloc known as the European Union, or E.U. for short. During the Cold War, many European countries also took sides, to align either towards NATO or with the Warsaw Pact.
Possible future[]
In the year 2080, national governments made way for corporations to become governments themselves. In doing this, the Kasnia Conglomerate was formed in Europe, promoting no crime, pollution or poverty, but only allowing stockholders to have rights. It came to be owned by Tor Degaton and a board of directors. Over the past century and a half, the nation began to make use of Ray Palmer's A.T.O.M. Exosuit, engineering it in to a robot army to patrol the streets. Eventually, Per Degaton killed his father, considering him to be weak, allowing Vandal Savage to act as his proxy. In doing so, Savage used Kasnia as a foothold for his later rise to power, firstly in Europe and then across the world.[5]
