The Anti Meta-human Adaptive Zootomic Organism, simply known as A.M.A.Z.O., was an artificial intelligence robot created by Ivo Laboratories with the ability to copy an individual's physiological abilities.
At some time, Ivo Laboratories was contracted by A.R.G.U.S. to build a unit capable of identifying an individual's physiological abilities. The unit was built to scan a meta-human's abilities and convert it into meta data. Using a nano-adaptive hybrid of the Mirakuru serum as part of the "blood" that it pumps, it was also built with the capability of utilizing any abilities it has already scanned, leading it to be named the Anti Meta-human Adaptive Zootomic Organism or simply A.M.A.Z.O.
The A.M.A.Z.O. was then stored within a warehouse of Ivo Laboratories, until a break-in occurred and an inexperienced Flash (Oliver Queen) using Barry Allen's speedster abilities accidentally threw a lightning bolt that ricocheted inside the warehouse, hitting the deactivated robot and powering it on. When A.M.A.Z.O. started destroying Ivo Labs, Officer Jones, Killer Frost, and Elongated Man tried to stop it, but the robot proved too strong for them. The A.M.A.Z.O. then copied the two meta-humans' powers and took flight using Killer Frost's cryogenic abilities.

A.M.A.Z.O. was rampaging around Central City to find other meta-humans, when it was consecutively attacked and distracted by Supergirl, Superman, the Flash (Oliver Queen), and the Green Arrow (Barry Allen) to keep the robot off-balance and to prevent it from scanning them. Superman then punched A.M.A.Z.O. deep into the ground, until it flew its way up to the ground once again, finally copying the four heroes' abilities and fleeing the scene.

Barry then came up with a plan, which involved A.M.A.Z.O. chasing Oliver back to where they were. The robot, which now had the abilities of a speedster, chased Oliver and was eventually intercepted by Kara's punch. The Supercousins then held A.M.A.Z.O., while Oliver counter-phased it to keep the robot from becoming intangible. Barry was then able to shoot it with a Kryptonite arrow containing a virus created by Cisco and Caitlin which wiped its C.P.U. and made it implode, ultimately breaking into pieces; the head exploded in the air. Cisco dismantled A.M.A.Z.O. and locked up every piece in a S.T.A.R. Labs vault, except for one part, considering it as his souvenir.[1]
Another version of A.M.A.Z.O. was created by John Deegan by using the Book of Destiny, but was shut down when Brainy removed the robot's motherboard.[2]

Enhanced strength: With its metallic body, it easily overpowered Killer Frost's and Ralph Dibny's powers combined.[1]
Enhanced durability: A.M.A.Z.O. was able to crash through a building without suffering any serious damage.[1]
Physiological/Power replication: Using the Mirakuru hybrid pumping inside it, the A.M.A.Z.O. was able to scan an individual's DNA, enabling it to use their powers and abilities.[1]
Elastic physiology: By scanning Ralph Dibny, A.M.A.Z.O. had copied his physiological abilities, and used it to knock out Officer Jones who was a few meters away.[1]

Flight: By directing its cryogenic powers at the ground, A.M.A.Z.O. was able to simulate flight by propelling itself in the air.[1]
Kryptonian physiology: By scanning Kara Danvers and Clark Kent, A.M.A.Z.O. had copied their physiological abilities.[1]
Solar energy absorption: Having a Kryptonian physiology, A.M.A.Z.O. also derived its powers from a yellow sun.[1]
Super breath: Like Kryptonians, A.M.A.Z.O. was able to exhale powerful gusts of air from its mouth. It was also able to drop the temperature of its breath, being able to freeze objects.[1]
Like Kryptonians, A.M.A.Z.O. was able to use its solar energy reserve to emit blue energy beams from its eyes.[1]
Super strength: A.M.A.Z.O.'s strength was massively increased by its Kryptonian physiology.[1]
Invulnerability: Like Kryptonians, A.M.A.Z.O.'s is invulnerable to most physical damage, as shown when it didn't suffer any damage when it was crushed under a rubble of ice and metal.[1]
Flight: Like Kryptonians, A.M.A.Z.O. was able to manipulate its own gravitational field to generate thrust and propel itself through the air at high speeds.[1]

Bodily vibration: As a speedster, A.M.A.Z.O. was able to vibrate its body at high speeds.[1]
Intangibilty: By vibrating its body at the frequency of air, A.M.A.Z.O. was able to phase through solid matter, mostly using it to dodge attacks, although this ability was rendered ineffective when Oliver counter-phased the robot, keeping it from becoming intangible so that it would be vulnerable to physical attacks.[1]
Electrokinesis: A.M.A.Z.O. was able to produce lightning trailing behind it every time it ran using the Speed Force.[1]

High-level intellect: A.M.A.Z.O. was programmed to adapt to the unpredictability of meta-humans and to utilize a wide array of abilities that a situation requires, even knowing when to retreat.[1]
Master hand-to-hand combatant/Martial artist: By scanning Barry Allen, A.M.A.Z.O. had copied his physiological abilities, which was shown when it kicked Barry to flee the scene.[1]

Computer virus: When Team Flash realized that A.M.A.Z.O. was basically a computer, Cisco and Caitlin reverse-engineered a virus able to wipe its C.P.U.[1]
"Look; if A.M.A.Z.O. inherited all of their strengths, then maybe he inherited all of their weaknesses, too."
Weakness replication: When A.M.A.Z.O. copies the powers of an alien or a meta-human, it also acquires their weaknesses.
Kryptonite: By scanning Kara Danvers and Clark Kent, A.M.A.Z.O. had also copied their physiological weaknesses. Barry exploited this information and shot A.M.A.Z.O. with a kryptonite arrow containing a computer virus.[1]

Trivia[]
The robot's name and manufacturer may be related to the scientist Anthony Ivo, whom Oliver encountered during his time on Lian Yu, and the former's ship, the Amazo. Furthermore, the robot runs on Mirakuru, a super-soldier serum that Anthony Ivo had been searching for.[3]

The fact that A.R.G.U.S. specifically wanted A.M.A.Z.O. to be "a unit capable of identifying meta-powers" may foreshadow the anti-meta-human laws established by A.R.G.U.S. in Zari Tomaz's future in 2042.
It appears that the second version of A.M.A.Z.O. was incapable of copying the abilities of Brainy, allowing the latter to defeat the robot with relative ease. It is possible that this was because Brainy is a cybernetic being as well.
Behind the scenes[]
In the main DC comics continuity, Amazo is a robotic entity, capable of duplicating all the powers of the members of the Justice League. The robot was created by Anthony Ivo, who is associated with the ship of the same name on Arrow.
A.M.A.Z.O.'s design and mechanism bears similarities to that of A.M.A.Z.O.'s from the DC Animated Universe, along with the use of the acronym for its name.
However, unlike that version of A.M.A.Z.O., the Arrowverse's A.M.A.Z.O. was able to copy Barry Allen's skills as a martial artist, while the DC Animated Universe's A.M.A.Z.O. was unable to copy any of Batman's abilities, as the latter didn't have any powers.[4]
