- For the Arrow episode, see "Green Arrow & The Canaries".
Green Arrow and the Canaries was a potential television series, acting as a spin-off of Arrow.[1] The ninth episode of the final season of Arrow, "Green Arrow & The Canaries" served as a backdoor pilot for the potential series.[2] On January 8, 2021, it was announced that The CW had passed on the potential spin-off,[3] with Marc Guggenheim stating that the COVID-19 pandemic was the "deciding factor" in not moving forward with the series.[4] Having the series move to HBO Max was also "thoroughly explored", which was also a contributing factor to the extensive length of time it took to officially announce the series' cancellation.[5]
