- "‘Twas a fortnight ago, when across land and sea, slung from the bowels of the darkest valley of Devil’s Mountain, where phantoms themselves fear to tread, a message soared through the cosmos by way of griffin! Loyal, but pungent creatures!"
- —Wells the Grey[src]
Gryphons or griffins[1] are magical creatures. After Mallus was freed and his escape opened the door for other banished mystical beings, one known baby gryphon escaped and became a magical fugitive. In an alternate timeline, the same gryphon was killed and eaten by the Custodians of the Chronology. On Earth-13, griffins are used as messengers for carrying letters.[1]
Overview[]
Not much is known about Earth-1 gryphons, except for the fact that they're delicious when roasted.[2]
On Earth-13, griffins are known to be loyal yet pungent creatures, hence the sapient species use them for carrying letters.[1]
History[]

When Malllus was freed from his realm, a baby gryphon also escaped.
Aberration timeline: In an alternate timeline where Sara Lance was struck by the unicorn in Woodstock, the Custodians of the Chronology once roasted the same baby gryphon during a discussion on who will kill the shape-shifter.[2]
Earth-13[]
In November 2017, a griffin delivered a letter to Wells the Grey, which was actually supposed to be sent to the Claus of the North, as the letter contained a child's list of desired gifts.[1]
