The Guardian suit is a protective suit that James Olsen wore as Guardian. His sister, Kelly Olsen, wore a modified suit designed by Querl Dox after she took on the mantle of Guardian.
Overview[]
First suit[]
The suit's color is entirely silver and black. It consists of an entirely black suit with silver plating on it. On the left arm of the suit contains a built in shield which can be retracted for when James is not fighting.
Second suit[]
The suit, which was inherited from James, features several big upgrades including a gold exterior, a half mask, and long braids with beads on the ends. And at the behest of Kelly, Brainy made adjustments to the headgear seeing how the initial counterpart obstructed Kelly's field of vision when she donned her brother's helm.
History[]

Kelly's proto-Guardian suit.
After James stopped being the Guardian, he left the shield with Kelly. In an alternate timeline, Kelly used it to fight the evil Brainy.[1]
After seeing Kelly use the Guardian shield during Crisis, Alex Danvers contacted James, who sent a helmet for his sister to use as Guardian.[2]
Brainy helped Kelly modify the Guardian suit and made it yellow next to the shield. Kelly wore the new suit for the first time in the fight against Jean Rankin.[3]
Both Kelly and James wore their respective suits in the final battle against Nyxlygsptlnz and Lex Luthor.[4]
Functions[]
- Identity concealment: The suit contains a golden mask to conceal Kelly's identity.
- Retractable shield: A built-in shield that expands and retracts both automatically and on command. James often uses it to help him fight.

Trivia[]
- Kelly asked Brainy to redesign the helmet because her vision kept getting impaired; since the helmet was originally designed for James' head.
- James later returns in the finale with the Earth-38 design of the helmet; suggesting the one Kelly was given was a prototype or a spare that Winn created.
- Unlike James, Kelly doesn't use a voice modulator.
Behind the scenes[]
- The second suit is more accurate to the original Guardian suit in the DC comics.
- The gold coloring and beads on the second suit symbolize Azie Tesfai's Ethiopian and Eritrean heritage.[5]
- According to Azie, the suit took around six months to design.[5]
