"In my 30 years behind this bench, I have seen my share of criminals. But I confess this defendant stands apart. The defendant was in a position of authority. Our city trusted him to bring the guilty to justice. He used that trust to take an innocent and vulnerable life. Never have I seen a defendant more unmoved. Never have I seen such inhumanity. Such a lack of regard for human life. The court hereby orders that Bartholomew Henry Allen should be incarcerated for the rest of his natural life, without the possibility of parole and that Mr. Allen be immediately remanded to Iron Heights Penitentiary. And may God have mercy on your soul."
—Hankerson sentencing Barry Allen[src]

Judge Hankerson is a judge residing in Central City.

Biography

Hankerson established himself as a judge in Central City around 1988.[1]

To deal with the new meta-humans following the appearance of The Rival, Hankerson ordered more resources in the Central City Police Department to be used in figuring out the situation with the meta-human husks.[2]

Due to an opening in his schedule, Hankerson moved up arsonist Lucious Coolidge's hearing. Since CSI Barry Allen had suffered amnesia, D.A. Cecile Horton stalled Hankerson for as long as she could since his testimony was key to her case against Coolidge. The amnesiac Barry was forced to testify in front of Hankerson with the aid of special glasses. Though somewhat nonplussed at Barry's eccentric behavior, Hankerson listened to his testimony during Cecile's cross-examination. When the glasses short-circuited though, Barry was unable to give an adequate explanation to Hankerson and the court about Coolidge's arson case. As a result, Hankerson was forced to let Coolidge walk free.[3]

Hankerson oversaw the trial of Barry after he was accused of murdering Professor Clifford DeVoe. After Barry was found guilty, Hankerson sentenced Barry to life in Iron Heights without possibility of parole. He concludes by telling Barry "may God have mercy on your soul".[1]

Hankerson oversaw an appeal for Barry's sentence where Iris West-Allen and Marlize DeVoe are present. When Hankerson states that he can't take Iris' claim unless there is evidence, he is surprised to see Clifford DeVoe (who is actually Ralph Dibny in disguise) enter the courtroom claiming that he woke up in the morgue. This causes Hankerson to overturn Barry's sentence.[4]

Hankerson oversaw the trial of Joslyn Jackam.[5]

Hankerson oversaw the arraignment of Allegra Garcia.[6]
