Synopsis

An unnerving discovery in a garden shed sends Renee Montoya rushing to Ryan to ensure the city is on high alert. Her terrifying theory – a Bat Trophy has entangled a new host, and her thorny ways are weaving their way through Gotham. Alice is suspiciously eager to help the Bat Team, and Sophie seeks vengeance for an incident involving her sister.[src]

• This is the first episode of Batwoman to not feature Robin Givens (Jada Jet) and Nick Creegan (Marquis Jet) after signing on as series regulars.
• The episode title is a reference to the second line of the English nursery rhyme "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary".
  • Near the end of the episode, Alice recites the nursery rhyme to a Poison Ivy-infected Mary Hamilton.
• Sophie says that she used to think that Montoya was on track to being the next commissioner. At the time of this episode's first broadcast, Montoya was actually serving as the GCPD police commissioner in the Batman/Batwoman comic books.
• Alice mentions Poison Ivy turning into Little Shop of Horrors, referencing the 1960 film and subsequent musical of the same name.
