Illinois was a state in the midwestern United States (Earth-38), where the city of Chicago[1] and adjoining town of Skokie[2] was located here. The state bordered Iowa to the north-west and Kentucky to the south-east. These states were destroyed during the Anti-Monitor Crisis, when a wave of antimatter wiped out Earth-38 itself.[3]

History[]

At some point in time, Illinois became a state of the United States. Sometime after this, the state was labeled on a map used by Indigo.[4]

In 1927, Al Capone (Earth-38) became a criminal who ran an empire in Chicago. He was imprisoned for a long time, presumably due to issues with financial papers.[5]

Gayle Marsh was born and raised in Skokie, Chicago, Illinois, living a seemingly normal and calm life. One day, she apparently "snapped" and started robbing banks in the Midwest. With her powers virtually causing everyone around her to instantly submit to fear, Gayle was able to nonchalantly perform her robbing spree wherever she went. She eventually set her eyes on and moved to National City; California so she could rob banks there.[2]

In 2019, during the Anti-Monitor Crisis, the planet Earth (Earth-38) was disintegrated by a wave of antimatter that destroyed the whole universe of Earth-38, likely including Illinois.[3]
