Jane Hawthorne is a former resident of Salem who was accused of being a witch and the mother of Prudence Hawthorne.

Biography[]

Jane Hawthorne is a kind resident of Salem who was accused of false charges of being witch by various Puritan locals, including the priest Parsons. Her husband died some years ago. The Legends discovered in time log that Jane's execution in 1692 resulted in burning the Salem; after she was hanged, all the people spontaneously combusted.

The Legends investigated strange occurrences in Salem, where it was revealed to be The Fairy Godmother, whom Jane's daughter Prudence calls her as a her protector. Although the Legends thought to release Jane, they couldn't because according to the time log, Jane was executed as described in the Salem's law before the Fairy's influence, thus they couldn't change the timeline.

Zari Tomaz saw Jane's trial as unfair and went to release her from the prison, but Jane refused because she wanted her daughter to live. When Jane was in the trial, Zari, using her totem, went to stop this and convince them that Jane is innocent; this backfired because of her powers and they saw her as another witch. Both of them were put in bonfire.

Sara Lance came to rescue them, but she was overwhelmed by the locals, only to be rescued by Prudence and The Fairy Godmother, the latter who froze all locals, freed Jane and Zari, and put Parsons on bonfire. Prudence wanted a justice for her mother and other female villagers, who were accused as a witches and killed by other locals, but Zari and Sara convinced otherwise in their belief that although they deserved punishment for their ignorance, they shouldn't suffer in such horrible ways, instead finding better ways to solve the problem. This comes in turn the revelation that the Fairy Godmother didn't want to release Jane as Prudence believed, but instead to manipulate her so that Prudence can unleash the wrath aka "fire and brimstone" on the locals who wanted to execute her mother (the latter who never wanted to condemn the locals but instead forgive them). When Prudence learned this, she released her fairy from her service, thus undoing other spells and the fairy was captured and later banished to Hell by John Constantine.

When the locals no longer threatened Jane and Prudence, Zari advised them to leave Salem for another place to live in peace and safety.[1]
