John Scot Barrowman (born March 11, 1967) is a Scottish-American actor, singer, dancer and writer. He portrayed Malcolm Merlyn/Dark Archer in a recurring role throughout the first and second seasons of Arrow, and reprises him in a lead role in the third and fourth seasons. He also guest stars as Malcolm in The Flash episode "Legends of Today" and as Cutter Moran in "Duet".

Also, with his older sister, Carole E. Barrowman, they wrote Arrow's third comic book tie-in series, Arrow: The Dark Archer.

Barrowman signed a deal that would make him a series regular across all of the Berlanti shows (like Katie Cassidy and Wentworth Miller). He had the freedom to move across the fifth season of Arrow, the third season of The Flash and the second season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

In May 2017, Barrowman announced he was not returning to the Arrowverse for the 2017-18 season after his character was killed off in "Lian Yu", despite the ambiguous nature of the event, and he stated that he was unhappy with the producers' decision to do so. In August 2019, Barrowman confirms his character will back for the Season 8 of Arrow.
