"The multiverse has a way of aligning fates...It's written in the stars and in this book, or I wouldn't know that on this Earth, Clark Kent is Superman. Where I come from, that would be ridiculous. He can't see past his glasses." This article is about the character set in the Smallville universe. This article only contains information relevant to the Arrowverse. For information regarding that universe, please see Lex Luthor. |

Behind the scenes[]
- "You were born to be the chosen one. You're simply better than us."
"And that always killed you."
"No. No, what killed me is that you didn't even want it. You fought it. You hid from it! I would have taken it and relished it, embraced it." - —Lex and Clark on the former's envy of Clark's destiny[src]
- This incarnation is intended to be the same character portrayed by Michael Rosenbaum in the WB/CW series Smallville, who was revealed to be newly elected President in 2018 in the flash-forward ending scene of the series finale.
- Rosenbaum had received an offer to reprise his role in Crisis on Infinite Earths, but ultimately turned it down.[2]
- In the DC comics, there was a time when Lex was President of the United States.
- Similar to what Earth-38's Lex said in "Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part Two", Lex Luthor in Smallville had said to Clark similar lines out of envy of him. Echoing this was a reference to the finale's dialogue.[3]
- Clark even refers to this in the episode when Lex is about to speak when he says "Can't say I missed these chats."
