Lian Yu (Traditional Chinese: 煉獄; Mandarin pronunciation: ​Liànyù; literally "Purgatory") is an island in the North China Sea.

History[]

After the Queen's Gambit sank, Oliver Queen was said to have survived on this island for five years and then returned with a mission to save his city.[1]

In 2011, a magic related event occurred on Lian Yu.

Oliver later returned to the island along with his sister Thea Queen which led to them facing Slade Wilson, who was temporarily incarcerated there.

Years later, Barry Allen and John Diggle went to the island to find some presumed clue Oliver had left for them after his death. They both realized that he didn't and left with his mask in hand.[2]

After being detained by Team Flash, Eobard Thawne was imprisoned in an A.R.G.U.S. cell on Lian Yu.[3]

The Negative Still Force teleported into Thawne's cell to discuss the Negative Speed Force. Their conversation ended with "Deon" killing Thawne by aging his body into a skeleton.[4]

Red Death was imprisoned on the island, to keep Ryan Wilder safe from persecution for her doppelgänger's crimes.

Ramsey Rosso was imprisoned here after he lost his powers.[5] Ironically, Oliver Queen/the Spectre who caused this was imprisoned here once.
