Young Lex listens to Lionel and Lillian arguing.
At some point, Lionel and his wife Lillian Luthor have a son, Lex. However, the couple was dysfunctional and Lex witnessed constant fights and arguments between the two, causing them to occasionally take out their anger against him until his teenage years.[1]

- In the DC comics, Lex Luthor's father was originally named Jules Luthor, and debuted in Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane #23 (February, 1961) and was created by Jerry Siegel and Kurt Schaffenberger. In later incarnations, he usually remains unnamed.
- The character was first named Lionel on the TV show Smallville. Due to the popularity of this portrayal of the character, he was given the name "Lionel" in the comics too.
