Longinus was a Roman soldier that used a spear to penetrate the side of Jesus Christ during his crucifixion, imbuing the spear with metaphysical abilities, later becoming known as the Spear of Destiny.
At some point, the man known as Longinus became a soldier of the Roman Empire. During the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, Longinus used his spear to penetrate the side of Christ after he died on the cross.
The spear that Longinus had used to penetrate Jesus, gained powers to rewrite and create realities because it touched the divine blood of Christ. Eobard Thawne later will go to form the Legion of Doom to rewrite the timeline, in which they later temporarily succedeed. Due to the Legends's actions, Damien Darhk and Leonard Snart returned to the timeline and Eobard was imprisoned in the Speed Force by the Black Flash.

Behind the scenes
- In Christianity, a man was responsible to penetrate Jesus Christ during his crucifixion. The name "Longinus" originally refers to the spear that the man had used. However, because the name is derived from the Greek and means "a spear," it is referred to as having been the Roman soldier who pierced Jesus with the spear.
