At some point, Marcus Antonius was elected Consul of the Roman Republic alongside Julius Caesar.
On March 15, 44 BC, Mark Antony learnt of the Senate's conspiracy to murder their Caesar. He proceeded to the Theatre of Pompey to warn Caesar, but was intercepted by Trebonius, unable to do anything as the Senators mobbed their dictator.

Antony was a supporter of Julius Caesar, and served as one of his generals during the conquest of Gaul and the Civil War.
