"With the eradication of the vermin, Mars is a paradise. The way it was intended to be. The Greens have been silenced. The ones who thought they were better than us. We are now one pure hive."
Armek on Mars[src]

Mars is the fourth planet orbiting the solar system's yellow sun, located not far from Earth.

Overview

Culture and religion

Much like Earth's Judeo-Christian Faiths, or Krypton's main religion, Mars's primary religious faith is a monotheistic one, centered around the worship of a single and all powerful divine being. There are some polytheistic ones, given how some White Martians worship a Death Martian Deity.

The Green Martians were scholars, educators, specialists, researchers, scientists and philosophers, whereas the White Martians were bloodthirsty warriors, though there are those White Martians capable of compassion and philosophical wisdom, equivalent to a Green Martian.

History

Original multiverse

Earth-38

The planet's Green Martians were enslaved by the White Martians and placed into camps, before eventually being wiped out, leaving J'onn[1] and M'yrnn J'onzz as the only survivors.[2]

M'gann M'orzz, a rogue White Martian, eventually returned to Mars, where she found a number of other White Martians who wished for peace. She invited J'onn back, accompanied by Kara Danvers, in order to get information regarding the Staff of Kolar out of his father, who they had rescued. They eventually got this, using the staff on a number of White Martians. However, they determined that it was too powerful for anyone to wield, giving it to their Earth-bound allies.[2]

In late 2019, J'onn J'onzz gave his ship to help his brother Malefic J'onzz travel back to Mars and help M'gann M'orzz with the civil war.[3]

New multiverse

Earth-Prime

Sometime between mid-2019 and January 2020, Ichiro Lestrapes and Jack Faust became the first two humans to walk on Mars.[4]

Since Earth and Mars both orbit the Sun, Malefic J'onzz sent M'gann M'orzz to Earth to stop an escaped sun-eater.[5]

Because of an insult by Martian Manhunter, Rama Khan promised that he would conquer Mars, after he was done with Earth.[6]
