The Medusa Mask[1] is a mask that contains the spirit of an ancient meta-human psychic known as Psycho Pirate.
Overview[]
The Medusa Mask was made to look like gold, and has two eye holes for the user to see through them it conceals the user's identity and enhances their psychic abilities.[2]
History[]
The warrior Gilgamesh used the golden mask to imprison a powerful psychic meta-human. From then on it popped up all over the world, being used by King Satvir Panchhi of the Yoruba Tribe in Africa and an unnamed 17th century pirate.
Roger Hayden later stole the mask from the Khandaqi Embassy and after he was taken down it went into storage at Arkham Asylum. After the breakout at Arkham, they returned the mask to the Khandaqi Embassy, who donated it to the Central City Museum.
During the war between the forces, the lightning which hit Cecile Horton was used by the spirit to possess her body. The spirit woke up at S.T.A.R. Labs with Joe at their bedside and began posing as Cecile. As Cecile, the spirit pretended to be analyzing some of Cecile's old cases and sent Barry into a coma.
Afterwards, the spirit told Team Flash that it was the Psycho Pirate who attacked Barry and gave them the idea to steal the golden mask at the Central City Museum. With the help of Sue Dearbon, the spirit made it through security, stopped a guard, and stole the mask. After revealing that the spirit is not the real Cecile, he made Sue throw a dart at herself and fled. The spirit then invaded the S.T.A.R. Labs to steal the Thinker's Hoverchair to increase his powers. He succeeded, but was confronted by Iris, and while he was distracted, Chester destroyed the hoverchair and Cecile and Barry managed to escape. After Team Flash defeated the spirit, Caitlin Snow brought the mask to A.R.G.U.S. so they could contain it safely.[2]
In 2022, the spirit possessed a guard, and escaped from his cell, along with Tony Woodward, N. Emerson, and Joslyn Jackam, only to be stopped by Cisco Ramon, Tinya Wazzo, and Kamilla Hwang.[1]
Erased future[]
In the year 2031 of an erased timeline created by Eobard Thawne, Cecile tried to use the mask to stop Damien Darhk and Barry Allen/Reverse-Flash from retrieving the particle eradication distributor, but she was knocked unconscious effortlessly by Darhk.[3]
