Template:ActorMelissa Marie Benoist is an American actress. She portrays Kara Danvers/Supergirl in the lead role on Supergirl. She also portrays Jane Doe/Bizarro in the first season. She reprises her role in special guest starring appearances in the third, fourth and fifth seasons of The Flash, fifth, sixth and seventh seasons of Arrow and second and third seasons of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, as well as portraying Kara/Overgirl. She voices the latter in Freedom Fighters: The Ray. In the fourth season of Supergirl, she portrays Red Daughter.

Benoist was the real-life wife of Blake Jenner, but she filed for divorce from him at the end of 2016.
Both Benoist and Blake Jenner played characters on the Fox dramedy Glee, which is where they met.
She became engaged to Supergirl co-star Chris Wood in February 2019 and married in September the same year.
