Miguel Robles is a corrupt former agent of Crows Security, the former head of the Crows Homicide Division, a former GCPD officer, and the killer of Lucius Fox. In 2020, he took on the alias of the Detonator, which belonged to a known terrorist bomber that had died 7 years prior.

Biography

GCPD and investigating the Detonator

In 2013, Miguel Robles was a rookie cop of the Gotham City Police Department and was on the case of the Detonator but he never managed to capture him.[1]

Joining the Crows and killing Lucius Fox

Two years later, Robles was hired as an agent of Crows Security and was put on Tommy Elliot's personal detail, who hired him to rough up Lucius Fox for a journal he wrote. Robles told Lucius that if he didn't give up the journal to Tommy, he would go after his son, Luke Fox. This enraged Lucius so much that he charged at Robles until he accidentally shot him in the chest. Robles then received $10,000 from Tommy and decided to frame Reggie Harris instead.[1]

Discovering Sophie's secret

After Alice escaped custody, he was ordered by Sophie Moore to close Loeb and Brown Bridge to prevent her from leaving the city.[2]

After he took a vision of the video footages out of the Curse while a Crows team was hunting Nocturna, Robles noted that Sophie freed Batwoman and let her go away, so he decided to give said footage to Commander Kane, stating that it was the right thing to do and that, being the only one who knew about it, it was up to his superior's to decide what to do.[3]

Suspected of corruption

A few days later he was called in Jacob's office and questioned about Harris's case and the oddities in it, to which he responded that all he found strange in that case was that Fox was a hero and the people are trying to free his killer. Later that evening, Jacob approached Robles asking him why he sent $51.000 to Sip&Dash after arresting Harris, and he explained it was a refund for having destroyed the place when arresting him, after which Jacob asked if it was for destroying the evidence and Robles replied that a Crow would never have done something like that.[4]

Covering up the Lucius Fox's murder again

After Reggie Harris was released from prison and the authorities started investigating Lucius Fox's murder again, Robles hired "Michael Fisher" to kill anyone who was involved in this.[5]

A week later he took on the mantle of an old villain, the Detonator, to destroy everything that could link him with the assassin-for-hire. He started by targeting various individuals deemed to the public as heroes to follow the previous Detonator modus operandi. However, he pursued his own agenda: by attaching a bomb to Officer Wilcox, after he chose to deactivated it a second one destroyed the site of the Gotham City Bank which contained the count where he transferred money to the hitman, while after targeting Bobby Reeves and forcing him to press the button he destroyed "Michael Fisher"'s house.

Then, Robles kidnapped Jacob Kane, bonding him to a chair in his office, placing a bomb on him, and another under the Wayne Tower. After tried to left the city but it was approached by Batwoman on Rucka Avenue and brought at the Wayne Tower, where she asked him to disarm the bomb, to which he replied he can't unless the other bomb detonates.

Then Luke pointed a gun on Robles determined to kill him to avenge his father but Kate talked him out of it after they knocked him out, the bomb was detonated securely inside a blinded room on the building, while Robles was arrested and sent to Blackgate Penitentiary.[1]

He was later said to have given up the names of other people involved in the Lucius Fox murder he orchestrated, and then elaborately attempted to cover-up, in a bid to avoid the death penalty,[1] leading to the Crows looking into Tommy Elliot, the man who commissioned Robles into confronting Fox for a journal that he had which led to the latter dying at the former's hands.[6]
