"Mortal Khanbat"[1] is the fifth episode of the fifth season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and the seventy-second episode overall.

- This episode marks Caity Lotz's directional debut.
- The title is a play on the Mortal Kombat video game franchise, and Genghis Khan. The former was previously referenced in several Arrowverse episodes:
- Zari Tomaz was shown playing Mortal Kombat II in the Season 3 episodes "Return of the Mack" and "Beebo the God of War". In the latter episode, she played the game against Jefferson Jackson.
- Sub-Zero appeared in the Arrow episode "Promises Kept" when William Clayton played him against Felicity Smoak's Blue Beetle in Injustice 2 despite being a downloadable character. Both the Mortal Kombat and Injustice franchises were developed by Netherealm Studios, and published by Warner Bros. Interactive.
- Cisco Ramon made a reference to Johnny Kage in "The Icicle Cometh" when he was describing Barry and Nora's move on "Sally the satellite".
- Terry Chen previously played a soldier in the Arrow episode "Trust but Verify".
