"Night of the Hawk" is the eighth episode of the first season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and the eighth episode overall. It aired on March 10, 2016.

Synopsis

The team tracks Savage to a small town in Oregon during the 1950s. Upon arrival, they discover there have been a recent string of murders and they suspect Savage is involved. Professor Stein and Sara go undercover at a psychiatric hospital, where Savage is working as a doctor, to find out his plan. While there, Sara meets a nurse named Lindsay and sparks fly. Meanwhile, Ray and Kendra pretend to be a married couple to gain the neighborhood's trust, but an interracial couple in the '50s isn't something that goes unnoticed. Soon, Savage is at their door.[src]

Plot

The scene opens with certain young people racing through the byways of Harmony Falls, Oregon. One of the vehicles blows a tire and the driver turns off the roadside, almost hitting an unusual shining stone all the while. As the youngsters accumulate to analyze the huge stone, Vandal Savage strides free and clear and reveals to them that it's a meteor and says that it was their "predetermination" to discover it.

Tear's group lands in Harmony Falls, following data from the Archeon that Savage showed up during that timeframe. Gideon pulls up some news stories refering to various horrible homicides and vanishings, and Rip proposes that Savage is behind them. To discover Savage, Rip says they have to examine the killings and locate the regular connection between casualties. Along these lines, Ray and Kendra act like a wedded couple and buy one of the casualties' homes, while Stein acts like a specialist (with Sara as his attendant) to fill the activity opportunity left by another casualty's vanishing. Sara spares his medical caretaker companion and quells Jax, while Ray runs in and shoots Savage through a window to spare Kendra.

Taking Jax back to the Waverider, Stein starts a quality treatment that changes their partner back to ordinary. Sara visits her medical caretaker companion and gives her a farewell kiss before leaving. Jax visits Betty and gives her another vehicle and advises her (and a changed Tommy) to escape Harmony Falls. Beam and Kendra likewise talk about their sprouting relationship while pressing their home.

Before Sara, Ray and Kendra return, Chronos out of nowhere shows up and assaults the Waverider. At the point when the abundance tracker penetrates the boat and enters the extension, Rip orders Gideon to take off, leaving a large portion of the group caught in 1958.

Preparation ran from November 23 until December 3, 2015. Shooting ran from December 4 until December 16, 2015.

Trivia

• This is the only episode of the series not to feature Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory). However, Mick still appeared as Chronos.
  • This leaves only eight cast members to appear in every episode: Caity Lotz (Sara Lance), Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer), Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart), Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter), Amy Pemberton (Gideon), Victor Garber (Martin Stein), Ciara Renée (Kendra Saunders), and Franz Drameh (Jefferson Jackson).
• Stein likes the 1950s, while Sara and Jax dislike it; Sara is bisexual, and Jax is African-American. As they point out to Stein, neither are accepted in this era.
• Jax jokingly refers to Harmony Falls as "Pleasantville", a reference to the setting of the 1998 film of the same name.
  • Jax also references "Lover's Lane". Although being a popular type of location in real life, there is such a place of the same name in Pleasantville.
• Leonard referred to Sara as "Nurse Ratched". This is a reference to the main antagonist in Ken Kesey's novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
• Jax calls a bully "Biff", referencing the character Biff Tannen from the Back to the Future trilogy.
• Vandal Savage uses the name "Curtis Knox" as an alias. This is the name used for Savage in Smallville.
• In the Harmony Falls Psychiatric Facility, frequent references are made to a "Hall H". This is a reference to the most important room at San Diego Comic-Con.
• Ray asks Jax if he's going to an "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance, referencing the prom in the 1985 film Back to the Future.
• The sequence with The Atom entering Curtis Knox's house while Kendra overwatches him with a binocle is a homage to Alfred Hitchcock's 1954 film Rear Window.
• Jax refers to Harmony Falls as "Mayberry", the setting of The Andy Griffith Show.
• Snart calls Betty "Peggy Sue", referring to the Buddy Holly song of the same name.
• This is not the only appearance in a DC adaption for guest star Laura Mennell as she was previously seen in the film adaption of Watchmen, which is based on the 1986 graphic novel of the same name, in addition to the playing two different roles on Smallville.
• As an interesting trick, the audience is lead to believe Jax was being bullied by the cop due to being African-American, but the cop is later revealed to be working for Savage.
• "(We're Gonna) Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley and His Comets is heard playing on a car radio early in the episode. This same recording was previously heard playing in the 1978 Superman film.
