Biography
At some point the Penny Plunderer began committing crimes in Gotham and likely faced Batman as a newspaper clipping about him was kept inside the Batcave.[1]

- In DC Comics, the Penny Plunderer is Joe Coyne, an unlucky man obsessed with pennies who began a career in crime, embracing pennies as his symbol. He was sentenced to death after his first encounter with Batman; however, the giant penny with which he tried to kill him became a permanent presence in the Batcave over the following years.
