Raymond Calverick is a corrupt former judge, residing in Gotham City.
Biography
Original multiverse
Early life
Calverick worked for years with ADA Angus Stanton and Detective Stu Donnelly to convict prisoners to the Blackgate Penitentiary's death row, even if they were innocent.[1]
Assassination attempt by the Executioner
In 2019, Calverick was targeted by the Executioner who assaulted him in his office but Batwoman managed to save him. However, his past crimes were subsequently exposed to the public, leading for him to be arrested, convicted and disbarred.[1]
Anti-Monitor Crisis
During the Anti-Monitor Crisis, Calverick as well as everyone in the multiverse except for the seven Paragons, was killed in an antimatter wave by the Anti-Monitor on December 10, 2019,[2] only to be restored a month later, after the Paragons and the Spectre created a new universe.[3]
New multiverse
Raymond's past crimes were subsequently exposed to the public by Batwoman, causing him to be disbarred. The District Attorney and Judge Davis Wellington re-opened all cases that were tainted by Raymond's and his co-conspirators' actions.[1][4]
Personality
According to Jacob Kane, Calverick was an heroic individual and a pillar of justice in Gotham, however, this was ultimately nothing more than a façade. In truth, Calverick was selfish, greedy, dishonourable and corrupt, as he and his co-conspirators, Angus Stanton and Stu Donnelly, framed several innocent individuals for crimes they did not commit, for his own personal gain in order to raise his reputation, and feeling no guilt, shame and remorse for his immoral actions; regardless whether or not these said individuals were wrongfully incarcerated or executed for crimes they did not commit And he was also obviously revealed to be both racist and biased because all of his were black people who were merely victima of racial profiling.
Abilities
- High-level intellect/Master lawyer/Political acumen: Calverick's experience with the legal system enabled him to successfully sentence virtually every criminal and innocent victim he wrongfully prosecuted.[1]
