"Red Dawn" is the twenty-first episode of the fourth season of Supergirl, and the eighty-sixth episode overall. It aired on May 12, 2019.

Plot

Baker has had the CatCo servers cleaned, ending Kara's proof. Kara gets away from execution because of Red Daughter. Lena cross examines Ben about Lex's arrangement, yet he is uninformed of it. Ben's hair starts to drop out as he has taken an untested Harun-El. J'onn, Brainy, and Nia invade an AmerTek industrial facility to spare the outsiders there, however are caught. One of the specialists strikes Brainy in the brow, coincidentally making him carry on like his progenitors while rebooting. He get away and deceives J'onn and Nia, getting them extradited with different outsiders. Ben discovers Otis, who unwittingly uncovers that Lex plans to double-cross Kaznia before getting executed by him. Lena puts an infant truth animal around Lillian's arm and is persuaded by her to add more Harun-El to James after he becomes damaged. Red Daughter shows up at Alex's home, masked as Kara before Supergirl shows up and battles her. Alex recollects again that Kara is Supergirl. Red Daughter about executes Kara, however, Lex clearly slaughters Red Daughter on TV. Dough puncher lies that he slaughtered Supergirl, surrounding her as the driving force behind the Kaznia attack. Haley calls Alex to educate her about the genuine reason regarding the Claymore satellite: it has enough vitality to control a Lexosuit.

  • The title references the 1984 film of the same name.
  • This episode marks the first appearances of Izabela Vidovic and Olivia Nikkanen as the younger versions of Kara and Alex since season three's flashback episode "Midvale".
  • When Supergirl is in Red Daughter's apartment, she stands in front of a mirror, potentially referencing Red Daughter's similarity to Bizarro.
  • There are two references to Star Wars made throughout the episode.
    • The "Wookiee gambit", that Dreamer mentions is an allusion to the scene in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) when Luke and Han, disguised as stormtroopers, pretend to have captured Chewbacca in order to access the detention area in the Death Star where Princess Leia is being held prisoner.
    • Brainy mentions having been shamed for his unawareness of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, once before. He's referring to a scene in "Battles Lost and Won" when Kara quotes Han Solo to him; Brainy inquires whether she's making a film reference, and she expresses her surprise that they've never shown him Star Wars.
  • As they had done it with DC's Legends of Tomorrow, which was done in Japanese, the Supergirl logo was briefly done in Russian.
