- "No one could stop these so-called Legends, not until we came along, the real flesh-and-blood superheroes whose job is to put history back on track. We are the real Legends of Tomorrow."
- —Sara Lance[src]
The Legends were a team of robot clones who operate to protect the timeline. They were created by Gideon, once Bishop escaped from the Waverider. Made to believe that they were the real Legends of Tomorrow and that the true Legends were robots, their mission was to eliminate their "robot" counterparts, thus removing any threat to the timeline.
History[]
Hunting the Legends down[]
After Bishop left the Waverider,[1] Gideon created robot clones of the Legends using a combination of her technology and Bishop's cloning technology. Gideon tricked the group into telling them that the real Legends were his robotic copies. The team was being led by Sara Lance and unlike the real Legends, most of the group had different duties.[2]
Gideon then sent them after the Legends who altered the past when they worked with the Rosies. The Legends were unsuccessful in killing the Legends since Bishop sacrificed himself in order for the Legends to escape. During the mission, Astra Logue and Zari Tarazi were killed before killing Bishop.[3]
Mission in Chernobyl[]
As their next mission, Sara and Nate Heywood investigated the changes caused by the Legends in 1925, 1986, and 1943, something that upset them, so they went to Chernobyl, 1986, to prevent people from escaping before the explosion.
Nate, Sara, Behrad Tarazi, Esperanza Cruz, and Gary Green took it upon themselves to stop the soldiers from escaping to threaten General Kalashnik to order everyone to stay to die in the explosion, but he refused. With all their efforts, the Legends couldn't convince him, not even Nate, who threatened Kalashnik with his brute force, so Gary tried to eat him, but Behrad prevented him, causing him to accidentally shoot Sara. Returning to the Waverider, Astra and Zari, who had been rebuilt, informed Sara that the mission was complete, as Kalashnik ordered all the inhabitants to stay.[2]
Learning the truth[]
As the next objective, Sara was sent to assassinate Dr. Irina Petrov, however, upon discovering that she was a robot, and wanted to do good, Sara let Irina live and then confront Ava Sharpe to find out the truth.
Sara brought Ava before the Legends to confess the truth, and they discovered that they were robots. As leader, Sara asked the team to do good to help the Legends, however, Zari and Gideon threatened Sara, since the true Legends were evil for the timeline, something they accepted, and put Sara to sleep so that then Gideon will reprogram her into her assassin mode. Nate took over as leader and sent Sara to finally kill Irina.[2]
Confronting the Legends[]
When the real Legends prevented the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914, the Legends traveled on the Waverider quickly to kill the real Legends once and for all.[4] Nate, Sara, Spooner, Behrad, and Gary got off the ship to search for the Legends, but encountered several time travelers, so they proceeded to kill most of them until the real Legends showed up. Behrad took it upon himself to search for them to the Fixed Point Bar, but was killed by the real Astra.
Unknowingly, the real Legends took it upon themselves to make a plan orchestrated by Gwyn Davies to stop them. Real Sara and real Nate took it upon themselves to do aberrations to get the attention of Robot Nate and Robot Sara. Real Gary threw Astra and Ava into Hell. Real Spooner tricked Gary and Spooner into killing each other. Real Zari and Zari battled each other until Real Zari took away her CPU.
Behrad, Astra, and Zari managed to disable Gideon. Sara and Nate confronted Real Sara, Real Nate, Real Spooner, and Gwyn until Real Gideon ordered their CPUs to be removed, causing Robot Sara's death. However, Real Nate revived Nate to become the guardian of the Fixed Point for all eternity to end the Robot Legends. Astra managed to survive and with her last strength, stabbed Real Gideon, before dying.[5]
